Which books do you swear by? I've just finished Expecting Better which was really interesting but focused on sorting facts from myths, so would be good to read something which talks more generally about the experience of being pregnant and how to prepare for childbirth etc. Thanks!

Expecting Better is great. I preferred Breastfeeding Made Simple though lots of women recommend The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.
But my go to book is a 1978 Readers Digest/ Mothercare book called 0-10 years an illustrated guide (just have to read it with a filter as it's very much of its time in some ways).

Absolutely Expecting Better! Such a good read.

ju ju sundin- birth skills. absolutely brilliant for labour and coping with contractions. I found the pregnancy books mostly depressing, so many pictures of women laughing while eating salad and revealing enough tummy to display no stretchmarks whatsoever. put me right off my crisp sandwiches Grin

A friend gave me this book: Happy Birth Day: What to Do When for Your Best Possible Pregnancy and Birth (National Childbirth Trust) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1845333497/ref=cmswwrcppapi_fC6TzbR4R8NKH

I'm not doing NCT and actually she didn't either so don't know how she came across the book ha. It's absolutely great though, really clear and easy to understand and goes through every stage. It's been my bible during my pregnancy as it's my first so I'm a bit naive! It came with a CD but it was snapped so I dunno what was on it.

Thanks everyone - I'll look all these up for sure. Terrified about labour so hoping to combat this via loads and loads of research!

I also liked the Expecting Better one for its myth-busting but struggled to find a more guide I got on with. I tried the Rough Guide (tries to be funny which gets irritating) and the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (so bad it read like a parody).

@LotusBlossom1 I don't want to push my own choices on to you but I was really nervous about the idea of labour too and have always thought 'how can I do that?!' However, I've been practising hypnobirthing and I'm now 37weeks and actually cannot wait to go in to labour and feel really in control. I've also done loooads of research which has helped too ha. Anyway just thought I'd put it out there as something you could look in to if you wanted to. And good luck!
