Ectopic or chemical?

Need some advice please. I was pretty sure I had a chemical pregnancy last month: pregnancy symptoms and positive test (clearblue pregnant 1-2 weeks) followed by a heavy bleed of normal period length and loss of pregnancy symptoms. Two weeks after suspected chemical I now have low down pain on one side like a painful ache. What is going on? Could this be an ectopic pregnancy? I didn't test again after the suspected chemical because I was so sure I was no longer pregnant. I can't face going to hospital and having to tell anyone what happened because it was so horrible and I just wanted to forget it had happened and pretend I was never pregnant. I am TTC #1 and this was my second chemical.

When I had an ectopic pregnancy, I thought that I miscarried and had a 'period' but continued to have brown blood for about a week or two after and I had some sharp pains in my side. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive and thought it could be an ectopic so I called my GP. My GP brushed me off and said that it was highly unlikely that it was an ectopic and it's 'very rare'. Told me to wait a week for blood tests but I challenged him and had them the next day. Had low hcg levels and empty uterus on scan but a mass in my tube... About a week or two later after being monitored my hcg levels didn't go down so I had methotrexate injections. I have had miscarriages and chemicals before and really did not think it would happen to me. I don't mean to worry you but I defiantly think you should take a pregnancy test and if the pains continue then book a GP appointment. If the test is positive then go asap x

It might just be ovulation - that would cause low down pain two weeks after a period - but if it doesn't pass or is worrying you do get checked out.

I think if it is an ectopic you'd still be testing positive though, so I'd go and take a test asap.

Okay I have bought a pregnancy test and will take it in the morning if the pain is still there. This is a lot more painful than my usual ovulation pain. I really don't want to take another pregnancy test and see "not pregnant" after the last one I took was - finally - positive.

If you suspect ectopic please go to hospital not your gp!!! The reason they probs brushed you off is because it is most certainty a job for the hospital not gp! It can become extremely painful very quickly and sorry to scare you but you can die very quickly too from it plzzzzzz plzzzzzzz go to hospital they would rather it be nothing!! Xxx

@2furbabies The GP brushed me off because he assumed it was a complete miscarriage and that 'it is rare to have an ectopic'. In some areas (like mine) you need a referral to go to the early pregnancy assessment unit and that's what I finally got from my GP. I couldn't just turn up at the hospital and the pain wasn't bad enough to go to A&E. Best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test and book an urgent appointment with the GP and ask for a referral and blood tests.

And if the pain is bad then go to A&E.

Thanks guys. I did a test this morning and it didn't work (control line didn't appear) - FML! Fed up of this just want it to be over so we can get on with trying again. I will get another test and try again. Still feel pretty crap today but pain is less bad. No bleeding since the "period" I had two weeks ago when I realised it was another chemical. TTC is seriously shit do I wonder if it's worth all the hassle and heartache.

Op i'm al sorry you're going through this. I have had x3 mcs and I'm at 16 weeks now. It was a hard times Keep going and mourn the losses. You'll get there.

I am with the other ladies here-can you test now (it should come up) and please get to the hospital if it's positive. They'll do a scan and check you.

Thanks for your replies. Just did another test and it worked and was negative. So I think I am all clear for ectopic and it was another chemical. Thanks for your support. It is very hard to be positive. I am surrounded by pregnant people!
