Severe sickness already - 7 weeks 3rd baby

So I'm 7 weeks today with my 3rd baby. Must have been extremely stupid to think I might escape the sickness this time round as it's come back with an absolute vengeance.

I am not being as sick as much as I have the previous two times but suffering really bad nausea to the point I can't eat or drink anything because the thought of it makes me feel so sick. I also get scared to eat or drink in case I bring it back which I know sounds stupid!

I just feel so down in the dumps, wondering how I'm going to cope with my other two children, house work etc etc for the next however many weeks of feeling like this. Have been to docs last week and was given
Metroclopromide I think it's called but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Anyone else feeling the same? Just needed somewhere to let it all out.

Yeah, I suffer from Hyperemesis and have been on metaclopramide. How long have you been taking it? And if it's not working please make sure you're not dehydrated.. find anything that will work, even if that means jelly or fruit or ice lollies. There's stronger drugs you can take (check the NICE guidelines and take them with you if you have to) called prochlorperazine and ondansetron.. I'm on ondansetron and it's helped keep the vomiting down but I will occasionally still feel ill. And if you want people to talk to, we have a Hyperemesis chat on the pregnancy threads so feel free to pop over for any more advice
There's women on there with a whole load more knowledge and experience than me!

Morning sickness was so bad in my both pregnancies that it was killing me. I was puking and all the time was nauseating. No to morning sickness tea was the only remedy which worked with my second pregnancy and eased my sickness immediately.

Hi HRH Kate.

Rebecca, I'm sure you're just trying to be funny, but I doubt the OP is laughing when she feels like hell and is trying to get some support. Not particularly helpful to be taking the piss.....

OP, sympathies to you. I'm on my first HG pregnancy and have no idea how anyone copes with older children on top.

Have you come across Pregnancy Sickness Support? This is a great website and the helpline is really useful. They can give you the details of a local HG friendly consultant if your GP isn't doing enough to help

You should go back to your GP and say the drugs aren't working. Please ask about ondansetron. It's the most effective drug out there and has helped lots of women. It can be hard to get it prescribed, so here are the official guidelines if your GP gets argumentative. I couldn't have got through without ondansetron - not a magic bullet but definitely helped. However ask for something to counteract the constipation.

I know your scared to drink, but if you don't try to stay hydrated, you'll end up in hospital on a drip. Some people find sugary drinksstay down easier than water - try flat Coke, lemonade, juice from tinned fruit. Personally I found sipping Lucosade helped a bit. You can also try liquids food to stay hydrated like soup and jelly, or maybe fruit?

Regarding food, nibbling tiny amounts of bland salty carbs worked for me - toast, instant noodles, mash and gravy, salted crackers, digestives. However some women find high protein works instead.

Otherwise, all you can do is rest as much as possible. Draft in family and friends to help care for the older kids if possible, otherwise can you pay for extra childcare? If not, some extra tv to keep them quiet for a bit won't do any harm. Fingers crossed yours might calm down towards the end of the first trimester, although some don't feel better until 20-ish weeks or even throughout the whole pregnancy. How long did your HG last in previous pregnancies?

I had HG with 2 of mine but not all of them- which I thought was odd, They two that made me feel like actual death and be hospitalised were both girls are both rhesus positive (whereas I am rhesus neg) I wonder if it was the hormones or the blood group or the sex (or none of the above?) that caused it.

Hope y'all feel much better soon.
