I reckon Gaviscon is mainly bought by women over 35 weeks! I am 37 weeks and downing it like my 18 year old self downed black sambuca on a Saturday night!!!

Things that help me are

Coke - helps me burp.
Sleeping propped up slightly - If I lie flat thats it.
Milk - few swigs of.

You can go and get Omeprazole from the GP too if its that bad.

Do you have long to go?

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 10/09/2017 13:52

😂😂😂 that made me laugh! Not the fact you have heartburn!

I'm 25 weeks. It's been so bad through the night and today. I've had some milk helped a little. Might try a can of coke thanks 😊

Milk makes it worse long term although it will help at the time. I use omeprazole because it completely gets rid of it.

Sleeping propped up helped me a bit, milk can help a bit too. Watch watch your eating/what triggers the heart burn- although I couldn't eat anything without having heartburn. I had to get Omeperazol a few weeks ago from the doctors mines got so bad, I was scared to take tablets so kept putting off going but honestly it got to the stage I had to, and I honestly feel like a different person now, no heartburn at all. If your really suffering I would suggest speaking to the doctor Smile

I have found that sipping some coconut water after each meal and before bed has helped and also sleeping slightly proped up too.

Calphurnia · 10/09/2017 14:37

Omeprazole washed down with gaviscon. Tis the only way. For me!

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 10/09/2017 14:44

Ranitidine has been a lifesaver for me! You can buy 75mg tablets over the counter but I got a prescription for 150mg tablets as was having a hard time of it.

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 10/09/2017 23:28

@MummyMrsMe oh I need something it's been hellish all day and also have indigestion! Can tell it will be a shitty nights sleep tonight 😭

The gaviscon tablets - double action ones?
I lived off them, bought thousands. Annoying when your heartburn goes overnight and a baby pops out your fanjo and you have packets and packets left....

DeadDoorpost · 10/09/2017 23:31

I've had major heartburn today too which stupidly got made worse by eating extremely hot chilli chicken wings. Didn't feel the heartburn after those for a few hours 😂😂😂
Seriously though, I found milk helped more than the Gaviscon or some chocolate. May have been a fluke but it seemed to work...

ruthieruthuk · 10/09/2017 23:34

I been to docs n got some tablets to take which seem to be helping

newbian · 11/09/2017 02:23

The liquid Gaviscon seems more effective than the tablets but I'm still taking it at almost every meal and before bed. At my next appointment I'm asking for something stronger. It wasn't this bad with my first pregnancy but this time the heartburn and indigestion are almost unbearable!

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 11/09/2017 10:36

Thanks ladies. Going to give gaviscon another try here's hoping it works this time!

I found gaviscon useless when I was pregnant. Rennie helped a lot at first but when I got to around 34 weeks it was just horrific so I phoned the doctors and they said about ranitidine which was a life saver.

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 11/09/2017 12:36

I've got some rennie in my bag, today ive had no heartburn at all (probably just jinxed it now) @Firefly112

I would not recommend coke at all lol! But yes the Zantac/ranitidine will definitely help, my doctor prescribed be some of them when I was preg and it helped soo much, I tried cutting down on acidic foods too just to make it easier for myself x
