Tens machine

Hi,

Am due my first baby in 8 weeks and am wondering if anyone used a tens machine for pain relief during Labour?

Am trying to be quite chilled out about pain relief and understand I may need something stronger but was thinking of maybe hiring or buying a tens machine.

Just wanted to know if people thought they did help at all? Even if it's just for pain relief in the house before I go to the hospital x

I loved mine. Used it right until last minute pushing

For DC 2, now 12 weeks, I started contractions at 5am. Put the tens on at lunch time. Baby born that evening

Worked for me, would recommend

I rented one and I'm so glad I did. It was the only thing that helped in the first stage at home. I also used it in the car on the way to the hospital and don't think I could have managed contractions with a seat belt on otherwise. Good luck!

Definitely get one! Mine really helped and I had it on until I used the pool. It also gave something to focus on during the contractions.

I used mine and would definitely recommend getting one. Really helped during pre labour

Thanks everyone Smile
I think the hospital said I can hire one from my midwife, so I'll look in to that but if not will definitely buy one x

I did and loved it - got through 2 births with that, water and paracetamol!

Lemondrop99 · 09/09/2017 18:57

I've rented mine online. £20 for 7 weeks (gets sent out at 37 weeks pregnant). Haven't used it yet but for £20 I thought why not?

MaverickSnoopy · 09/09/2017 21:45

For me, it did nothing. But. Try anything and everything.

Urglewurgle · 09/09/2017 22:41

The three people I know who have recently given birth highly recommended it. They said it meant they could stay at home for longer and even got a good night's sleep before heading into hospital.

I'm 38+5 and need to get one asap (we thought a family member had one we could borrow but it's gone walkies).

I loved mine!

Thanks everyone Smile @lemondrop99 can I ask where you've hired yours from? The ones I seen were all around £40 x
