Chorizo/cured meat

Ok so I'm freaking myself out. Other half just made quesadillas for lunch with chorizo and serano ham. He cooked both separately before putting them in the quesadillas. Serano ham was from a packet from Tesco chorizo was an amazing kind we always get when a continental market comes to town from the same stall. Pre pregnancy chorizo and cured meat was pretty much one of my staple food groups! I am now massively freaking out I have done something really stupid. Anyone able to advise/calm me down/tell me I'm a moron??

I think it's a no no because of risk of worms etc, but when cooked it's absolutely fine, so no problems from what you've said

MrsL2016 · 09/09/2017 14:38

Absolutely fine once cooked. Enjoy

Mumsnet need to do a stickie on this subject. Grin

Also fine: smoked salmon, runny eggs, ham, philadelphia, cooked unpasteurised/ mould ripened cheeses and sauces that have had a splash of alcohol added.

Not fine: Shark

It's fine if cooked. I ate a small piece of undercooked lamb 2 weeks ago and nothing happened. Also ate a whole pack of pepperoni in my first pregnancy as I didn't know the rules, and it was all ok.

The reason you're advised to avoid cured meat products is the listeria risk (v small but scary). Listeria is killed with proper cooking, so you're fine.
