I'm just wondering. I am now 38 weeks and have been feeling progressively like i am getting a cold through the day. Googled it and some people think its a sign labour will start in the next 1-2 weeks (sounds wishy washy to me). What did you feel like? Anything different?

I'm 38+2 today. Feeling full of cold Eugh and uncomfortable. Have had period type cramps off and on (not regular just occasionally) all night. Nothing else. Not bad enough to stop me sleeping etc.

Dh just asked whether I'd be ok if baby arrived early. I'd be ecstatic. I'm done being pregnant. I'm on leave now (last day of work yesterday) so would ideally like a few days to myself) but if it stopped me being uncomfortable...

I am 40+2 with DC2. I've had a horrendous cold all week, thanks to my toddler. I'm not managing to shake it though and wondering if it is in part influenced by pregnancy/imminent labour.

Tmi, but I have the thickest snot I have ever seen, in huge quantities. I just blew my nose and it was exactly how I remember the mucus plug from my first pregnancy. I wonder if the body thickens all bodily secretions when it is maintaining the thicker cervical discharge? Either that or this is just the worst time to catch a cold! Envy

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 08:46

user I'd heard that your body just produces a shit ton more mucus technical term towards the end. Although this is my first so don't really know.

I'm snotty as hell. Eugh.

39 +4 and I have had it
And no systems
My first was 6 weeks early and so never been to this stage and I am soooooooo done

Please come tomorrow baby

10storeylovesong · 16/09/2017 09:36

I'm 38 weeks and so fed up. My first came at 27 weeks so been on high alert for prem labour the whole pregnancy and under the consultant. Got to 36 weeks and discharged as baby looks huge and clearly very comfy in there. Me on the other hand... every day I pray that today is the day it happens! I've threw up every day of my pregnancy and it feels like someone's kicking me in between the legs with every step I take. If one more person tells me I look like I'm ready any day, or that it "won't be long" when I say it could be potentially 4 weeks I will not be responsible for my actions!

Lovechild2016 · 16/09/2017 09:51

😂 10storey I am totally with you on that one. I'm only 36 weeks measuring small but people still feel the need to ask why I haven't already delivered and look shocked when I say potentially 6 more weeks! I finished work on Friday and I think it was more of a relief for my co workers than me as they just looked worried the whole time I was there! Ridiculous.

suckonthatmaureen · 16/09/2017 09:56

I retreated into myself (must have seemed grumpy). Before both labours I had a nap, which turned into a really deep sleep, then woke and ate my body weight in bread!
This was a sign for me, as I'd not really sleep properly for weeks and could hardly eat due to hypremisis and heartburn.

babysurprise14 · 16/09/2017 10:10

Feeling the same I'm 40+5 ftm and getting constant texts asking for updates. Had a few tightenings but no real signs. Had a sweep on Thursday but cervix too high 😢booked to be induced on 23rd, have tried all the myths so far and nothing has worked 🙈

Scoleah · 16/09/2017 10:17

I felt brilliant, like I had loads of energy, (I was full on nesting & bleaching every surface of the house 100 times a day & more if I could) I was In a fantastic mood; the baby had dropped so I wasn't out of breath walking , sleeping better.

Good luck with delivery Flowers

silkpyjamasallday · 16/09/2017 17:05

I felt the same as I had the entire pregnancy, nauseous, and also fed up, because vomiting 10+ times a day for 40 weeks is not fun. No nesting urges (and also not really possible as we were living at my parents) and to be honest I was too ill. My contractions started in the early hours, I went into hospital at 7pm (ignored the lady on the phone who kept telling me to wait because if I could talk I was nowhere near close to giving birth) waters broke while on the bed and baby born at 11.

I honestly had no clue, no signs, no symptoms that I was going to go into labour, I was 2 weeks late as my DMs first baby so I was settling myself in for the long haul and did not expect to give birth one day after my due date.

silkpyjamasallday · 16/09/2017 17:11

@10storeylovesong if you're anything like me you'll feel the best you have for months after giving birth. I felt on top of the world, as soon as dd was out the nausea was gone. I did vomit a lot during labour but it was a minor annoyance by that point! That's the pay off though, the other mums on my ward seemed to be really suffering in comparison to me, but had probably spent their pregnancies wafting around glowing while I practically set up camp in our bathroom . My family all suffer from awful HG, but my female relatives all claim you get an easy labourGrin

Growuphelen · 16/09/2017 17:25

DS 1 @ 37weeks- backache and fidgety for 24 hrs then backache spread round into contractions
DD 1@40+8 - no different, sweep at A/N appt then born that evening
DS 2@ - generally grumpy and uncomfortable for a week then went to bed exactly 40 weeks and waters broke at 6 am
DD 2 - admitted at 39 weeks with a bleed, scanned and monitored and told I could go home after an overnight stay but woke up when waters woke at 5.30 am
DD 3 was born exactly on her due date and I honestly felt no different until waters went, once again around 6 am !

Hi Guys

As a prenatal yoga teacher , i always teach women the importance of breathing as this reduces the pain during labor. Also is very effective for calming and reducing anxiety before, during labor. When i gave birth to my daughter, i wrote in my birth plan for my OB to direct me through deep breathing and the moment she did, i calmed , and the birthing process wasn't as painful as my previous birth.

hope this helps!

Practice for deep breathing.

As an update i had a stretch and sweep at 39+4 yesterday. Nothing has happened overnight though so i am losing faith by the minute.

Think if one more person says 'he will come when ready' i will poke them in the eye.....

The constant questions are annoying now.

Had terrible diarrhoea 48 hours before and at my midwife appointment that same day (which I nearly cancelled because of it) she said it was a sign labour could be starting soon. I was 37 weeks and dismissed it as being too soon. Two days later, my waters broke and I gave birth 12 hours after

ninecoronas · 21/09/2017 10:49

Also had the shits a few days before, also at just past 37 weeks. Finished work on Friday. Sunday had an extreme need to mow the lawn and shag like it was going out of fashion (not both at once mind you). Waters went at 3am on Monday. Good luck!

10storeylovesong · 21/09/2017 13:00

Reading these gives me hope... in the last 24 hours I have lost it at DH over a phone charger, spent 10 minutes shitting while vomiting into a bowl before the school run, cancelled breakfast with friends as just couldn't face being social, and just retired back to bed after school run as couldn't face the world before waking up and devouring a huge bowl of pasta. Let's hope this is the start of something, and not me losing my mind!

SquareSophia · 21/09/2017 13:15

I was one week late with DS2. I'd had a failed sweep by the midwife at 10am and she said he was nowhere near coming.
Watched Holby City that night in bed then my waters broke. He was delivered 4 hours later. Shock
You just never know!! Good luck!!

Whippetmamma · 21/09/2017 13:27

I felt fine, I ended up having prolonged rupture of the membrane though, my waters broke and then nothing happened, got booked in for an induction the next day, felt very strange standing in the chippy waiting in a take out with DH 12 hours after my waters had broke knowing I was probably going to have a baby the following day!

silkybear · 21/09/2017 13:27

DD was two weeks late and i had period pain and brax hicks for a full week before she came. I was utterly livid. Also remember feeling really sick the night before and just 'wrong' and ill somehow. had the shits all weekend and she arrived monday morning. Im 38+4 with dc2 and have had bad brax hicks, periody pain, the shits and felt sick all day yesterday but don't think anything is happening yet as it comes and goes. I think your body can be gearing up for ages before D-day sadly.

Jellybabie3 · 21/09/2017 13:55

Looks like a squiffy tummy is a theme.....never wished for diarrhea before.....

Ya, I also felt cold but it was before two weeks of labor. I was expecting my labor in start of 38 week. But it happened in 39 + 6. Before 1 week, I was starting to feel little back pain. It was with time gap. In my last week, the baby movement was very furious. Some times I worried about my labor. In last days, I was annoying of being waiting. Every time I asked to my doctor when would I done with it. I told her for c-section. But they refused. They said we would try our best for the vaginal birth. I was not in a mood to bear miserable pain. After 5 hours of labor pain, they decide to go for c-section. Good luck for your baby birth.

crazycatbaby · 21/09/2017 14:01

Slight periody pains the day/night before (not enough to notice really, just felt a bit achey), waters went the next day when I got up in the morning Grin

Lemondrop99 · 21/09/2017 16:49

Nearly 39 weeks here and not a bloody twinge 😒 Zero sign of baby moving anywhere, aside from possibly losing my music plug very slowly over the last few weeks. I actually think baby (who wasn't particularly engaged anyway) has completely disengaged as there's less pressure in my pelvis 🙄 And this week the flurry of text enquiries has started. Meh.
