Underactive Thyroid levels in Pregnancy - where to start?

Apologies in advance - I feel I am always on here looking for advice at the moment.... but I'd really appreciate any response, it's freaking me out a little.

So during a round of tests to discover why I'm feeling so crap at 34w- I have what are supposedly normal thyroid results - see below, only just within nhs range according to lab results. I understand that - actually - these aren't great for pregnancy (read stuff on the British Thyroid UK site) but gp not bothered and didn't mention it. I haven't been diagnosed with hypothyroidism before pregnancy, though have always thought might have it (ie results for Tsh historically on higher range; I have classic symptoms).

Ts4 12.9
Tsh 3.97

Does anyone have any advice about what to do, or reassurance that all is ok? I'm very worried that this has been overlooked and impact it could have on the baby. I realise that this might be a bit ott but feel so crap at the moment that I can't imagine it's great..,

Hi beastie.
I have hypothyroid, mine was diagnosed after an early miscarriage (as the cause). It is a cause for concern during pregnancy, if your levels aren't great, and should be monitored often (midwife does my thyroid blood tests every 6 weeks). I don't know much about the figures, however there is a forum online called 'healthunlocked' that have a section for thyroid conditions. They give great advice, and most users have throughly researched the ins and outs and can offer you great advice (most know more than doctors). Best bet would be to sign up, and post what you've posted here.
Fingers crossed for you xx

Totally agree with justkeep. I'm hypothyroid but had a lot of problems getting diagnosed and with treatment and found Thyroid Uk and the Health unlocked forum an amazing support (in fact I wouldn't now be well without their help). I would definitely recommend asking there. Good luck xx

Hi
I have hypothyroidism (diagnosed when I was a baby) and had ds in March. I arranged to go for a pre pregnancy consultation before I conceived to ask about pre conception TSH levels and optimum levels during pregnancy as I was worried about it. I was advised that TSH should be kept below 2.5. My pregnancy was consultant led (due to hypothyroidism and another health issue), and my consultant wasn't too worried when my TSH crept up to 3.9 and later 5.5, but did increase my thyroxine. I was tested monthly ish (after a bit of a battle on my part). I was feeling pretty stressed about it when my levels crept up but the consultant was pretty relaxed.

Hope you start to feel better soon.
