Baby movements lessen when shifting position?

I'm 29+5 and baby has been transverse for the majority of the pregnancy, but I think he's recently shifted to be head-down within the last few days. His movements seemed to almost stop entirely during but seem to have picked up a bit more from last night. I've not had a gut instinct that something is wrong, but I have promised my DH that if it seems to still be bothering me by the end of today I'll phone them up (unable to see them last night due to travelling).
Has this happened to anyone else? He seems to have the occasional day(s) where he wont move much but will then come back moving almost nonstop, so I don't know if this is something to be concerned about Or whether it's a normal thing when they shift positions. Any help would be great.

Should have also mentioned that this is my first pregnancy so I have nothing to compare it to.

Any change in movements should be checked at the hospital.

ElizabethShaw · 08/09/2017 13:58

You have absolutely nothing to lose by getting checked out, and everything to gain.

I didn't feel my baby move for nearly 24 hours I called up and got too see my midwife yesterday and baby was absolutely fine! Deffo call up hospital though.

Any change in movement should be checked out by a hospital. They would much rather you went in and it was nothing than you left it and it was something.

Hi OP, I'm 29+5 with first baby too :) I agree with the others that it's definitely worth getting checked out but just to reassure you in the meantime that you're not the only one. My babies movements vary significantly depending on the position he/she is in. Currently breech and lots of low down kicks but had a few quiet days last month where I panicked but all was well. I think it can be changeable but always good to get some peace of mind so you can relax over the weekend. Good luck pregnancy buddy!

Definitely get checked OP! Hope everything is okay! Better to be safe than sorry!

I'm 100% convinced that my baby's movements dull when I haven't been to the loo for a few days and have a full bowel!

But as said above, any change in movements should always be checked out ASAP. You shouldn't leave it until the next day. It's likely nothing but the midwives would always rather check.

Thanks guys, he's been a pain in the ribs for the majority of today, but will contact them. Yesterday really wasn't a possibility at all.

@Lemondrop99 I don't think that's an issue with me considering the lactulose and root beer I've been having with the HG as you'll know already

Just wanted to update and say that he stopped moving as much again and went to the hospital to be monitored. They reckon it was due to him shifting into hed-down position far down and being a bit dehydrated so I may have to get used to noticing the kicks again as they'll feel different. He seemed to come alive during the monitoring though.. was quite happy kicking the Doppler to hear the noises and would do that repeatedly.
So yeah, he's all good. Thanks guys.

I always notice a decrease in movement when I'm a bit dehyrdrated and like PP have said when I'm a bit constipated. Had a poo of gargantuan proportions the other day after a couple of days of being bunged up. I swear baby was doing the Hokey Cokey after that.
