Hi to all - this is the first time I have posted but I have been reading all the threads and finding them very useful - THANKS!!

I am 25 weeks (first pregnancy) and up till now have been feeling regular kicks throughout the day......until today! Felt a few early this morning (8am) but only about 1 since. Should I be worried??

Try not to worry. They still have plenty of room to move around at 25 weeks and the position they're in can really affect how much movement you can feel. So db might be facing the wrong way for the time being, or just be asleep.
Have you had it checked out yet?
Fingers crossed for you.

Any news Bellie? I agree with the iced water trick, always works for me

Bellie · 14/07/2004 09:43

Hi all - normal kicking action has been resumed! In fact after eating chocolate and having a lie down the little monkey was kicking virtually all night - so now feeling much happier.

Thanks for the tip highlander that an active day for me can sometimes mean that the next day is quiet for db. I had a really active Monday - trying to shop for nursery etc and had not had my usual lie down in the early evening!

Thanks for all your support mumsnet is a great support network and I am sure I would have been driven insane with worry if you were not out there!

Great news Bellie!

Sad to say, my Boo appears to have inherited DH's music taste and rocks out when he plays his stuff while ignoring mine. I am trying to convince Dh that baby is protesting to his and chilling out to mine

Phone your MW or NHS-direct 2 ask?

mummytosteven · 18/07/2004 21:03

I know that after 28 weeks if you get less than 10 kicks in a 12 hour period you should go to the hospital straightaway. before that time I don't think it is as worrying but you should phone up your midwife to ask. Another thing you could try is having some cold orange juice/water and a sugary snack, then lying down to see if that gets the lo moving round!

costamum · 18/07/2004 21:04

Hi Bellie - I'm in my 2nd pregnancy now (30 weeks) and I had and am still experience the same - some days baby would not move much and others loads - I guess they get tired too! I think its all pretty normal! But, on a more serious note, if you are worried maybe do as Zebra suggested - just to put your mind at rest if nothing else.

ice cream or chocolate used to get my girls exercising in-utero..

gscrym · 18/07/2004 21:08

I had the same with DS so I told the Midwife who sent me up to the hospital to get hooked up to a monitor. They monitored my for 3 hours and DS was fine. Turns out the position he was in and the fact I wasn't huge (felt like an elephant) meant that either I didn't feel much or he didn't have much room to wriggle about in. God has he made up for it now.

Bellie · 18/07/2004 21:15

Thanks all - I will definately try the chocolate and if nothing later will go to hospital when dh gets home

Bellie, I've got a wee wriggler that wriggles ALL DAY.

But very occasionally there are days when he won't move at all, save for a wee kick when I go to bed (that's his most active time for 1 hour).

It freaks me out - but I've learned that if I've been very active, then he'll be very quiet the day after. Don't know why.

I hope yours resumes normal activity soon.

A quick visit to the GP/midwife to get a heartbeat will reassure you? (is this easy for you to do?)

I was given iced water to drink on the pre-natal observation unit when they wanted to wake the baby up.

It worked, too.

MarmaladeSun · 18/07/2004 23:04

Hi. I also find the iced water tip works. Maybe even more so with an ice lolly? I had a couple of days when I hardly felt a thing, and the above suggestions, along with lying on my left hand side worked a treat. Now I do it when I'm bored just to wake baby up! LOL. Hope it's all ok for you.

beansprout · 19/07/2004 00:18

Hi, I hope everything is ok Bellie. I am 28 weeks and have a similar pattern - very active one day can mean very quiet the next. I also find that lying on my side can wake the Bean up. As always though, if you are concerned, please check, it's horrible waiting for a kick that isn't coming. Take care.
