Recording the birth?

It might seem weird to some people but I have been thinking about recording the birth of my baby. I think one day I might like to watch it back and keep the memory forever. Has anyone else thought about this or done it before? Also is this allowed at hospital?

Won't be allowed in an NHS hospital. .

Yup, weird. Having given birth twice I do my best to never think about it. It's one of those things best forgotten and never spoken of!

I don't know if I'd go so far as recording it but I did ask my DH to take photos during my last birth. I had a water birth and was interested to see the baby under water.
But I labour very easily and quickly so don't find it a tough/traumatic experience.

Unlikely to be allowed in an NHS hospital as you aren't allowed to film staff (I'm an NHS employee and we have big signs up on our wards across hospitals stating no video/photography as this might accidentally include staff/other patients). Photos should be ok if it's just you and your birthing partner in the room x

My friend had her DH film both of her DCs birth, and she was in an NHS hospital. I kind of wish I had now, it's certainly the most impressive thing I've done, and wasn't too gruesome, but I'm not sure when you'd start filming? I was 17 hours in labour and I don't think I could watch anything that long! I'll have to ask her, maybe the just got the final crescendo

I have photos of ds and video of dd. Not something to be broadcast at the PTA summer party but I am glad I have them...

I wouldn't say it's weird. Not something I would want recorded, don't even want my other half looking down there when baby is coming out lol

As soon as my son was born and given to my husband, he held onto my husband's finger and my son wouldn't the go! It was amazing to watch!
And I was only able to watch it as my husband had recorded the whole thing! I was laid flat on my back as I had an emergency c section on Nhs so I was pleased to see how my son came out!
