Hey ladies

I've started using the Amazonian Saviour balm from The Body shop. So far so good, a little goes a long way, it's a bit greasy and has no fragrance but I actually feel like it is doing the job and really soothes my skin, especially when it gets itchy. Hope it helps!

I've been using bio oil twice a day - it's greasy and expensive but it stops me itching, I've no stretch marks (41weeks) and my mum and sister have loads so I expected to get some - they didn't use anything.

@Constantlurker aw no fragrance is what I'm after. Iv been using palmers tummy butter but I now really can't stand the smell 😭

Neals Yard Mothers Balm

eggsbenedict89 · 06/09/2017 22:12

It has no smell and is amazing Xx

Asda do an NSPA oil or butter - the butter has no smell and makes skin so soft (dries quickly but leaves a silky residue which I like)

dinosaurkisses · 07/09/2017 08:26

I used bio oil for a few weeks at about 14 weeks before I got sick of the smell.

When I read about how stretch marks formed etc, it said that it was mainly genetic whether you'd get them or not- oils and lotions can't penetrate the layers of skin to prevent them occurring.

I bought some baby oil to put on in the shower to stop the bump itching, and I'm now 36 + 4 with no stretch marks in sight. I'm sure if I'd carried on with the bio oil or some other specialised product I'd swear it was down to that.

Palmers also do a fragrance free version I used that when pregnant and switched back to coconut after birth. No stretch marks and was cheap enough to use on legs etc as well xx

Orangebird69 · 07/09/2017 11:21

I don't know if it was because of the cream or not but early on I used Mama Mio and then when that ran out (I was living outside the uk and couldn't get any more), I used TBD Vitamin E body butter. Not one stretchmark!

Orangebird69 · 07/09/2017 11:21

TBS - The Body Shop

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 07/09/2017 11:22

Of my family and friends group there's been a mixture of creams, oils and nothing used.. it makes no difference at all. Its genetic so my advice is if you actually enjoy the moisturizing and massage element of it (as I did) then find any old cream or lotion you like and use that.

Orangebird69 · 07/09/2017 11:36

I could be genetics. Maybe I inherited my dad's skin then because my DM and dsis got terrible stretchmarks.

KittyKat73 · 07/09/2017 11:38

i use jojoba oil twice a day. only 16 weeks gone so I know its early days but no stretch marks and helps with itching

Cat2991 · 07/09/2017 14:08

Coconut oil! You smell great and it natural!! So many chemicals in creams these days!

Jellybabie3 · 07/09/2017 14:54

I use palmers tummy butter or the fragrance free one on tummy. I did have sanctuary oil but it got too expensive! Use morrisons cocoa butter on legs and arms. No stretch marks at 38 weeks Smile

Lilypad78 · 07/09/2017 15:51

Hi I use Bepanthen stretch mark cream as I read really good reviews online for it. It's a bit more expensive (around £13) but sinks in really well & is not scented. No stretch marks so far at week 32 (& I have older ones elsewhere from years ago so I know I'm not one of those lucky women who just doesn't get them!)

Roxx1516 · 07/09/2017 19:04

Iv heard using PILE cream is good! Lol my friend used it lots and her stretch marks are practically gone ! X

DeltaG · 08/09/2017 09:45

I use Novartis Trofolastin, which has been shown in some scientific trials to aid in the development of stretch marks.

It is not cheap - around £20 for 250ml, but in my own experience (sample of 1!), I had no stretch marks in my previous pregnancy and none so far in this one*.

  • I do think it's largely down to genetics as to whether you'll suffer or not though.
DeltaG · 08/09/2017 09:46

Sorry, I meant to write that it aids in prevention, not development!
