Stopping milk from coming in!

Hoping you lovely lot can help as google is failing me lol.

Does anyone know in the UK if they will prescribe meds to prevent milk production immediately after birth?

One midwife said possibly tho couldn't remember name of the drug and another just wasn't sure (very unhelpful!).

I've been told of how painful your breasts can get when milk comes in and you are not breastfeeding. I'll already have pain as having a C-Section so keen to avoid any extra/avoidable discomfort.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

We would only prescribe the drug for women who are HIV positive or who have a stillbirth.
this is standard in each of the 5 NHS trusts in the U.K. where I have practiced obstetrics. Sorry.
Avoid breast stimulation as above and keep your medication for pain regular.

Thanks Nan it's good to know. Rather than being disappointed.

My milk came in day 2 and i felt like i had a boob job very sore. Midwife suggested stabd in warm shower and let it come out and it did. Wore breast pads for a few days but pain was gone by day 3. Dont worry 😊

I had a French friend who was told what Nan said, but I know she managed to get a prescription from a French doctor she went to as a private patient. Not sure that helps?
