Early scan after missed miscarriage?

I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks in May and am now pregnant again and 6+2 weeks. I don't have my booking appointment with the midwives for another couple of weeks but am just wondering if anyone else in the same position had an early start an through the NHS in this situation. Not sure if I should be pushing for one or not?

I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks, sadly it stopped growing at 5-6 weeks.
I was told that for my next pregnancy to come in at about 7 weeks for an early scan at the EPU (at UCH) for reassurance. They were not able to offer a booked appointment for this but told me to just walk in.
I'm sure your local EPU would do the same.
Good luck and fingers crossed xxxxxxx Flowers

Following a miscarriage I had a telephone conversation with a bereavement midwife who advised that I could have an early scan in any subsequent pregnancy. I contacted her early on in my next pregnancy and she booked me for a scan at 9 weeks. As if happens I had scans at 5 and 7 weeks due to bleeds but they still honoured the 9 week scan. It may therefore be worth contacting the EPU or midwifery service to see if they have any policies on this. I wish you all the best Flowers

It depends on the area. Sadly, because having one miscarriage is relatively common, our EPAU will only offer early reassurance scans to those who have suffered consecutive miscarriages. It's certainly worth asking the question though.

Sorry for your loss OP Flowers congratulations on this pregnancy, I hope all goes well

I had an early scan in this pregnancy due to two mc's before eat 7+3. Had to go to the epau with a referral from my dr who advised the scan in the first place.
Maybe worth checking with your local trust to see what they can offer you.
Congrats on your pregnancy

To be honest, a scan at this stage might only serve to worry you more. It could be too early to see a heartbeat, which is really what you need. I had a mmc at 7 weeks (detected at 9). I had an early scan on my next pregnancy at about 7 weeks....can't remember exactly when. I work in the hospital so I knew the staff at the EPU and the midwife was really reluctant to do the scan for this reason. I was having daily spotting/bleeding so was really keen to get scanned and she agreed. I was lucky and she could detect the heartbeat. I would call your local EPU and see what they have to say

I had an early scan in the early pregnancy unit with my DD after having three consecutive miscarriages.

In some parts of the UK you can self refer or contact your midwives office and ask them to refer you.

Good luck
