Has anyone tried hypnobirthing and did you find it helped I am struggling with my anxiety of giving birth with my first child and really starting to suffer with mild panic attacks about it I've been told hypno birthing is meant to help has anyone tried it?

Don't panic. You'll be absolutely fine. I know a few people that said hypnobirthing was helpful so it's worth a try even if it helps calm you during contractions.
Just have an open mind when it comes to the birth. So if you find you're not coping with the pain, an epidural is useful. And even gas and air helps.
You can do this! It's amazing. Wink

Yes and I 100% recommend. I was extremely anxious when pregnant with my DD, I wanted to keep things as natural as possible and discovered hypnobirthing - had the sessions and loved them, and spent the rest of my pregnancy calm, positive and relaxed. Went into labour with absolutely no fear. :)

Hi

I am also extremely anxious about my impending labour - I'm now 39 weeks. So I went to hypnobirthing and found it really interesting but during the course of the day (full day programme). I realised that it wasn't what I wanted. The lady running it did a hard sell on no pain relief and certain other things were made to seem non negotiable.
However - the reason I posted was to tell you that even though I decided it wasn't for me there were elements of it that were useful and I learnt a lot about birth etc... it also helped me realise what I did want on my birth plan - which is an epidural if I feel necessary at the time! The labour I'm hoping for is far removed from the ideal hypnobirth presented on the day if our class but I'm still really glad I went and found it useful in my own way so go for it and take from it what is useful to you. X

I used the Maggie Howell book and cd, it kept me calm in the weeks leading up to labour and kept me calm and focussed during. It doesn't take away the pain, but by focussing on the breathing techniques and thinking that each contraction was bringing me closer to holding my DD, I felt I could manage it a little better.

I used hypnobirthing and it was amazing during labour and birth and even in the few days before when I was preparing to be induced. It was also really great afterwards when things got stressful - I could use the techniques when I was dealing with a screaming baby or the millionth overnight feed on my own.
