Suspected miscarriage

Hi everyone, I am posting because I really need some advice. I am supposedly 9+5 today. Over the first few weeks of pregnancy I experienced typical symptoms of sore and enlarged boobs, nausea and hunger. In the past couple of weeks, these symptoms subsided. On Wednesday evening we had sex and in Thursday I started bleeding. At first it was brownish in colour and very light. Today it has been heavier and reddish in colour, although not as heavy as a regular period. This week, I've been on holiday in Greece and am now at the airport travelling home. (I can't wait to get home now). My GP told me if I have a suspected miscarriage (heavy bleeding, etc.), go straight to A&E. I live in central London and don't have one dedicated midwife to call. I'm planning on going to A&E Sunday morning. I am mentally preparing myself for the worst and in my gut I sort of know the pregnancy is over. I wanted to ask if anyone has been through this experience before? What should I expect of hospital? Will they give me a scan? Blood test? How can I prepare for the coming week/ weeks? Thank you so much for reading this. It is the most isolating feeling and I'm just so thankful for my wonderful partner and these threads. X

I haven't experienced this but from what I've been reading online bleeding doesn't always mean miscarriage! I hope this is the case for you x

Honestly the wait on a SUnday night will be very long and you may not get a scan. I speak from experience. I have had a bleed at 12 weeks and lost that pregnancy and waited 5 hours at A&E and they told me to call the Early Pregnancy Unit the next day.
I have also had a bleed at 20 weeks. Because of the gestation I was rushed straight from A&E at Thomas' to the antenatal unit for monitoring. I am pleased to say that the pregnancy wasn't straightforward (baby born at 26 weeks) but the baby is thriving. My overall feeling having experienced maternity care at 3 Central London hospitals is that you wait till Monday. There won't be a great deal they can do for you even if it is bad news. If the EPU can't accommodate you then I would book a private scan.
I wish you much luck over the coming days.

I would go on the website for your local hospital. One the maternity section they should have a number for EPU (early pregnancy unit) call them on Monday. A&e won't be able to do anything and you will have a long wait. Fingers crossed for you.

Yes, get to an EPU early on Monday morning. If it's anything like the one in my nearest (kings) people can start queuing 20mins or so before it opens just so they can guarantee being seen.

They will scan you and assess. You will probably be asked to return in 1 week/10days for a repeat scan before they make a definite confirmation of miscarriage. (Dates can be out and they don't risk sending someone for surgery/giving them a pill if they could be wrong there.) the limbo period sucks, especially if you're certain about your dates.

If it is a miscarriage be prepared for bleeding - and taking some time out to look after yourself.

But it really may not be. There are plenty of stories with bleeding far worse/symptoms non existent etc that work out ok. Try to take each day as it comes and know that you can manage whatever. (My miscarriage was about your stage - it wasn't a breeze but it certainly wasn't traumatic for me in physical terms.)

And good luck. Flowers
