Bump to big to hide!

SSF8 · 02/09/2017 17:28

Here is my dilemma. I've been off work for a week, and during this week my bump has well and truly popped and I am really struggling to hide it (especially in my work uniform) however, I am only 9 weeks pregnant, so it's still all a big secret at the minute. I haven't even had my midwife appointment yet!! What should I do Confused

Let's see a picture

If it's your 1st it's not likely to be baby that creating the bump given its about the size of a grape, it's just bloatedness. It'll most likely go down and you'll get a proper baby bump around 16 weeks that's harder to hide.

GreenTulips · 02/09/2017 17:58

Unless it's multiple

SSF8 · 02/09/2017 18:32

It's definitely not multiple because I've had a scan already. It's my second baby. Fourth pregnancy. (Third pregnancy this year due to MC) will take a picture, only have one in work uniform which I can't really post x

I have never seen the issue with telling people early, even though I've miscarried.

SSF8 · 02/09/2017 18:42

I've told a few close friends and family and my boss because I work with cytotoxic drugs. But definitely don't want my daughter finding out until I know everything is ok.... I've basically told the few people who I would want to be there for me if the unfortunate was to happen again. But other than them, it won't be made public until I've passed the 12 week mark x

Let's see the bump.

starsshinebright · 02/09/2017 22:04

I'm 9+3 and my jeans are starting to feel slightly tighter. This is my 8th pregnancy (7 losses).

thingymaboob · 02/09/2017 22:17

I really don't think you've got anything to worry about. I wouldn't think you were pregnant. I know you feel a difference but I think you'll be fine until 12 weeks.

skyzumarubble · 02/09/2017 22:43

You can easily dress that to hide it.

SheSaidHeSaid · 02/09/2017 22:55

@SSF8 , can you oost a pic of your bump?

I had full on bloat at the same stage as you but I still managed to keep mine concealed at work, maybe if you post a pic here we can help you by either confirming you don't look more than bloated or by giving dressing tips?

SSF8 · 03/09/2017 00:42

This is in my work uniform. Bottom in just belly (still blame my daughter even though she's nearly 10) but it's the top where it's all pushed out which is making it hard. It is totally solid and I cannot breathe it in!

Those nurse / HCA / carer tunic-style tops are known to be really unflattering and they make the slimmest person look awful. If your manager knows then I would just ask for a bigger sized tunic as it really won't be that noticeable if you have a bigger top on.

thingymaboob · 03/09/2017 09:06

I'm 21 weeks and I wear a nurse scrub / tunic thing too but it was never well fitted and you only started to notice around 19 weeks.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 03/09/2017 09:10

Yes agree that you get a bigger tunic, can order a cheap one on amazon and it will be delivered by tomorrow :)

thingymaboob · 03/09/2017 09:11

Also, no one is going to ask if you're pregnant as it's not obviously obvious and people will not want to come across as rude. You could have easily put on a few lbs. even at 20 weeks I bumped into my anaesthetic friend (who works in maternity hospital) and I told him I was going for my 20 week scan and he was shocked and said "bloody hell, didn't even notice". The same day, another colleague looked at me suspiciously and asked me but she said I was at that stage where you don't know if someone's eaten all the pies or pregnant. Basically, I don't think people will ask or take much notice and I would advise getting a bigger top

SSF8 · 03/09/2017 11:56

Can't see me being allowed a new one with NHS cuts unless it's a maternity one (they have ties on them so people would know straight away) can't order one off the internet as we've got like a iron on transfer on the chest with nhs trust, name and job title. Might "forget" my uniform and borrow one of someone who's bigger than me. I should only have about a week of struggling before my scan, then it does matter who know after that! It's so frustrating!!

At 9 weeks I was so bloated and I didn't get by bump until around 18-19 weeks.

SheSaidHeSaid · 03/09/2017 12:56

As it's probably bloat rather than bump at 9 weeks could you not just say that you're just bloated at the moment if anyone asks? I don't think they'll ask anyway to be honest, if anyone suspects it, let them and keep schtum.

thingymaboob · 03/09/2017 15:26

But surely people know if you've got amended duties as you work with cytotoxic drugs...I honestly think you're making a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill. I work in NHS and of course you can have a bigger tunic!

thingymaboob · 03/09/2017 15:27

People aren't that perceptive and we are all too busy!
