Piles in pregnancy

Possibly TMI...!

38 weeks pregnant and thought I'd managed to escape any hemmoroid problems, but lo and behold they arrived a couple of days ago and I'm really struggling with the discomfort. I've had them before, maybe about 6-7 years ago, but they generally went away on their own after some diet adjustments and a few fibre drinks. This time round, it's actually quite painful rather than just uncomfortable and I'm having difficulty sitting down, sleeping, doing anything really! Sad

Can anyone recommend any cream I can buy from Boots that might ease the pain thats safe to use in pregnancy? I've been having warm baths but it hasn't helped. I'm having a c section next week so no time to see GP or MW, so really looking for a quick fix just to get me through the next few days. TIA

I am 24 weeks with 4 of the bastards.

At the end of a shower I put the water on full cold and blast The Area as long as I can stand.
Eat 2 or 3 prunes before going to bed every night.
I also have a cream that's safe for pregnancy and works v well but I am in Switzerland and don't know the uk equivalent

My pharmacist gave me a pack that had suppositories and cream in it. It was bloody marvellous. Ask at the pharmacy counter in Boots.

Thanks for the quick replies. My problem is I'm completely squeamish when it comes to that area so I don't think I could manage a suppository! Confused I could handle putting a bit of cream back there but that's about it!

Germaloids is your friend. Apply liberally. Good luck!

Germaloids is good. If it doesn't help the doc can prescribe scheriproct which is excellent.

Word of warning: be VERY careful of not allowing yourself to become constipated before and after c-section. Fybogel twice a day, lactulose and high fibre diet is essential.

If you don't your piles will get much worse and you could ended up with a compacted bowel bitter voice of experience speaking
