Clearly there's a slim chance but just curious if people have...

My guess is hundreds will be along to say yes.....its a ridiculous form of contraception!

MrsGB2225 · 02/09/2017 12:47

My friend did!

SpinDry · 02/09/2017 12:49

Yep. The result is currently snoozing on my lap Grin

Seaviewsunshine · 02/09/2017 12:51

My husband seems to think it's a satisfactory means of contraception Wink.

Twice... First time was a total accident (we were daft teens!) then a few years later we decided that we weren't that bothered and got a bit blasé about things the low and behold DD is now 4.5!

MyBrilliantDisguise · 02/09/2017 12:57

I think a lot of us who were brought up Catholic had far bigger families than our parents intended due to that method. Your husband's lack of knowledge about human biology is really worrying!

This.

Friends of ours. Twice! Confused

Falconhoof1 · 02/09/2017 13:07

Sorry of- DH forgot to withdraw. DS is now 8 (we were only using this method because we were about to go on holiday and I wanted to drink so not a disaster. I did drink on holiday though before I realised!)

Falconhoof1 · 02/09/2017 13:07

"Sort of" that should have been!

MyBrilliantDisguise · 02/09/2017 13:13

Here's a thread where it happened!

Tell him the 'snip' is a lot more reliable Wink
My friend was very shocked to get pregnant using the withdrawal method. Her dd is 12 now (and the guy is well gone).
My advice is unless you want to get pregnant, use a barrier method of contraception. Even then you may still get pregnant but it's safer than using no contraception (which is what I would categorise the withdrawal method as)
MyBrilliantDisguise AFAIK The Catholic Church advised using the billings method which involved monitoring temperatures and cervical mucous. It was/is only reliable if done correctly. It sounded tedious to me so I would have had enough children for a football team if I had to use it Grin

LittleNoSleep · 02/09/2017 13:31

Yep. I did too. Was young and daft.

SheSaidHeSaid · 02/09/2017 13:37

I genuinely didn't realise people thought it actually worked.

Algebraic · 02/09/2017 13:45

No, did it for many years and never got pregnant. Not because I have any problems conceiving, got pregnant in first month of trying.

However, DH and I used it as we would have been happy having a child should I fallen pregnant. I wouldn't use it as a reliable method if the pregnancy would be unwanted.

Seaviewsunshine · 02/09/2017 14:40

My husband is a contradiction. He says he doesn't want any more children but won't use condoms. He doesn't want to get the snip yet either. I'd be happy to have 1 more though. To be honest I think it's a slim chance as we'd actually have to be doing it regularly Hmm...

OP posts:
Flicketyflack · 02/09/2017 14:57

Why are men averse to condoms and the snip?

Is it because they are not the ones who go through pregnancy?

Your husband sounds very 'old fashioned' others would say 'sexist'.

Prusik · 02/09/2017 15:01

It's always worked pretty well for us, with condoms before ovulation. I've managed to conceive three times when we haven't used this method so for us it was ok. Although I think ours was called natural family planning as I kept an eye on cervical mucus to know when to avoid fertile times

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2017 15:05

No condom=no sex.

And you don't have to be having regular sex to get pregnant- once will do it.

user1499786242 · 02/09/2017 15:16

Didn't work for us hahaha

ProseccoMamam · 02/09/2017 15:22

Wait, do people actually use the pull out method as contraception? I though it was just what people did if they wanted to finish off in a different way?! You are crazy OP get your D(delusional)H to use a condom or use his hand

ElizabethShaw · 02/09/2017 15:26

Worked well for years for us. DH also not keen on condoms/snip and said he didn't want anymore children (I did!). Well one drunken NYE later and I'm about to have #3 Grin

Withdrawal is very effective if you actually withdraw and track ovulation etc. Failure comes from not withdrawing!

candlefloozy · 02/09/2017 15:30

Tried the coil? I love mine! We did withdrawal for about six months and I didn't fall pregnant.

MonochromeDog · 02/09/2017 15:40

Yes! She's 11 in 2 weeks.

mowgeli · 02/09/2017 15:41

I've never and I wish I did every time I hope I will Easter Smile
