Morning ladies!

Just that really! I'm 37 weeks today with DCDA twins and saw the consultant yesterday who booked my induction for this coming Monday 😖
Feeling a little anxious about the whole thing and would really appreciate hearing experiences of the process etc?

Hi @bambi2908, that's so exciting that you'll get to meet your twins soon!

I was induced with my ds who is now 20 months. They thought my waters had been leaking for more than 24 hours so they induced me with the drip in my arm. The first few hours were absolutely fine after the drip went in, no real pain and no contractions. Then it ramped up as j imagine natural labour does. He was born at 11pm that night and I was induced at 1pm. So I'd say about 4 hours of contractions and labour. I don't have anything to compare it to but I'd say I had a positive experience. The only frustrating thing was not being able to use the birthing pool because of the drip and the trace on my tummy to check the baby, it also hindered me moving around. Apart from that I don't think it was much different to going into labour naturally but like I said I have nothing to compare it too. Do you know if you'll be induced by drip? Good luck, I hope it all goes well for you.

Thanks @RedPanda25, I was a bit overwhelmed yesterday with it all but haven't been feeling tip top the past week so can't wait to meet them now!
Yes I think the consultant said yesterday it would be via drip

I was induced due to my waters going without labour having begun. The syntocinon drip does produce very intense contractions and I felt like they were being done to me, rather than my body doing it, which was weird. So I chose to take the epidural, which I hadn't expected to do. Not the natural active birth is hoped for! But it went fine, the delivery itself was all me and it didn't escalate into forceps, c section etc. Felt so proud of myself when she came! Good luck with your twins!

Hi Bambi, I was induced twice. The second one was wonderful. They put the pessary in and I walked around the hospital and then bounced on a birthing ball. (When contractions start you need to keep moving until they get really regular otherwise they stop). Then I lay down and relaxed for a couple of hours. When it started to hurt I stood up and did some breathing exercises or squatted over the ball. They took me to the delivery suite and I told the midwife I wanted to be active and to give birth squatting. She said this was fine. They dimmed the lights and left me to get on with it. I had an antibiotics drip but could still move around. When I got the urge to push I squatted on the bed and pushed him out. Pessary in at 12pm, contractions started at 7pm, baby born at 10pm. My first induction needed the drip and waters breaking but I think it was partly because I was so scared and didn't know what to ask for. I hope you have a wonderful experience. Trust your body and your babies. X x

Thanks ladies, they are recommending an epidural regardless due to the higher risk. I'd really like an active labour but I guess that might be unlikely?

I was induced first time round, pessary didn't work so ended up with ARM and then the drip. Contractions did start pretty intense straight away but took some codeine and then had gas and air. Even though I was hooked up I still managed to move around the bed and ended up leaning over the bed as I had pain in my back as well. Labour was only 4 hours and they took the gas and air away for the last hour of pushing.
For me it was a positive experience, I think because I trusted my body to do what it was supposed to and tried to remain calm and relaxed, and as mobile as I could being attached to drips etc really helped the process.
