31 weeks, breech baby?

Hoping for some reassuring advice 😕
Currently 31 +1 with first baby. At my 28 week appointment the midwife said baby was bottom down, but not to worry because he should move before she sees me again and it's really common for them to move position around loads before the end. So, went to my 31 week appointment today, didn't see my regular midwife (as she's on holiday) but this midwife said the same thing again today, that he's still in breech position. She did say that she wasn't worried, and they can check again at my next appointment in a few weeks. He's been back to back for ages now as well so feeling quite uncomfortable on top of everything else 😣
I know I potentially have lots of time for him to turn around yet, but it's stressing me out big time. I really, REALLY don't want a C section if I can help it. I know it ultimately may not be my choice at the end of the day, and I just want baby to be delivered safely, just wondering if anyone that's been through something similar had any advice as to how I can encourage him to move head down as I get nearer to my due date?

Hi. Ds was back to back at my 34 week appointment so I bought a yoga ball and sat on nothing but that for the rest of my pregnancy. I also walk lots each day and it done the trick. Gravity is the best thing to try and shift baby so keep as mobile as possible.

Hi JustMeeAgain
Interesting you mention the yoga ball as I was looking at buying one today for my back pain anyway, so will definitely give that a go!
I'm working til 35 weeks anyway (I'm a HCA on a busy hospital ward) so spend many hours on my feet. Perhaps there's hope for me yet 😊 lol thank you x

Dc3 was breach from 20 weeks. Went in for my pre-op at 39 weeks, still breach. Went in for my section at 39+2, they scanned again before we went to theatre and he had turned!

My dd was resolutely breech until 36-37 weeks (I needed weekly scans so could see she was bum down, toes to forehead every time). She turned over 5 very uncomfortable minutes as I was pushing ds in his buggy, I went from having that uncomfortable head in the ribs feeling to desperately needing a wee! There's plenty of time yet op.

Hmm I have a feeling this one might be a last minute mover too! He kicks and wriggles all the time so I'm surprised he hasn't moved round yet. InDubiousBattle argh the head-in-the-ribs pain is just the worst!! I keep worrying he's going to hurt his head if he keeps head butting me 😂

I had anaemia for a while and mistook it for 'just more bloody rib discomfort'! I felt like I was just not breathing deeply enough becasue her head was right up in my ribs. It was much comfier after she turned.

My 3rd was a swimmer. Head down one week, breech the next, transverse two days before my due date. The day after my due date they were satisfied that she's been head down for 24 hours (after monitoring me overnight in hospital) so with contractions starting I was taken down for an induction. As soon as the midwife checked my dialation my baby's head suddenly moved, so they scanned me and found she had gone back to breech!
An hour later she was delivered by c-section because they didn't want her to come bum or limb first.
I LOVED my section, the spinal was fine (uncomfortable at first but not painful), I was chatting all the way through it, i healed well & needed almost no painkillers once I'd left hospital (24 hours post section)

One of mine was breech from about 30 weeks and it does get very very uncomfortable, so I hope your lo does turn soon. Mine didn't unfortunately, stubborn little bugger, but I was able to avoid a c-section and give birth naturally. However this wasn't my first, so I think with a first, depending on baby size they would prefer you to have a c-section but it all depends on the hospital and what resources they have.
