Can I refuse work?

Long story short I've been working what I consider too many hours. Today is my 4th working day and I have already done in excess of 40 hours already over 3 days. I've been sleeping 3 or 4 hours and my partner has been coming with me so I don't fall asleep behind the wheel. I've been half arsed risk assessed but I keep telling them the hours are just too much.
If I get given too much work for the weekend should I refuse for health and safety reasons? I'm at my wits end with these people Sad

How far on are you?

BritInUS1 · 01/09/2017 03:15

Presumably they know you are pregnant?

What hours are you contracted for?

Hannabee123 · 01/09/2017 03:22

Contracted for 40 hours with overtime paid at standard rate and I'm 24 weeks pregnant

I've been doing 60 hour weeks and just can't cope

You need to get your butt to the doctor now, explain it all and push for a letter either signing you off or medically instructing your employer to strictly stick to [x] hours per week.

Without medical support you'll struggle to have your voice heard I think.

Thank you I think I'm going to send an email to my employers this morning outlining what I've been saying and then make a doctors appointment. I was signed off a few weeks ago because of exhaustion and pains

Tip; don't tell them your plans in advance. What you think might be helpful could make problems for you. They must know how much work you're doing and the fact you're pregnant so just head to the GP, get your note, then let them know.

Your health and that of your unborn child are paramount. Don't forget that x
