Pressure down below

Hi all,
I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant with my third child. For the last 4/5 days I've been get a lot of pressure, soreness and it's even been a little swollen down below. I have noticed that when I'm trying to have a bowel movement the pressure and pain is intensified and I feel like the baby's going to come out.
Has anyone else had these symptoms
Before or currently and know what's happening? I've tried research and couldn't find anything that helped me.
Thanks all xx

Hi OP, what you describe could be symptoms of a pelvic organ prolapse. Pregnancy is a risk factor (hormones + weight of uterus). Complications during birth, particularly the need to use forceps, can aggravate problems.
Aging, multiple pregnancies, being overweight, lifting more than 10kg and genetics are also risk factors.
If you're not already doing pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day, you need to start now.
Ask your GP to refer you to a pelvic floor clinic/women's health physiotherapist. They'll assess you and check you're exercising correctly.
It takes 3 months for the muscles to strengthen and 6 to be in tip top shape so you need to be diligent.
Hope this helps Flowers

Thankyou,
That doesn't sound at all good. I am
Doing my pelvic floor exercises along with others as I have spd along with a weakened core as my muscles have separated which is why my pelvis is taking a bartering this time around. I know it's early days still but I'm being assessed more frequent as baby is breech and his feet are lower than what they should be and he's also a little smaller than normally expected and I have placenta previa. Could all this been effecting what you explain above?
Xx

It doesnt necessarily mean it's a prolapse, I've had this in both pregnancies and it just the weight of baby. For whatever reason with me it manifests in swelling and aching down there quite early, which is much worse after using the bathroom or sex (pressure and extra blood flow).

"Pregnancy is a risk factor (hormones + weight of uterus)."
"I've had this in both pregnancies and it just the weight of baby."
I'm not sure why you don't want to call a spade a spade?

Some women are asymptomatic and yet have a prolapse. For some, physiotherapy is enough to sort things out.

OP, I don't know enough about SPD but diastasis recti could play a part. A strong core helps lift the pelvic floor.
I could be wrong of course. I hope you get the answers you're looking for from your GP or your physio.

What?

I'm just offering my experience of the symptoms the op has mentioned, and I didn't/don't have a prolapse. Not sure what your problem is!

Another thing it could be is varicose veins in vulval area which are really common?

Nat1512 · 28/08/2017 19:35

Hi all
Thanks for all the advice and help. I'm awaiting a call back from triage at the hospital as the pain is getting worse and baby doesn't seem to be as active as usual.

I will relay any Information given to me for future references to other women.

I hope your getting on ok OP. If it doesn't turn out to be anything serious, then I can relate. I've had intense pressure from quite early on. This is also my third. My babies tend to go low down and engage very early. I haven't really been able to walk anywhere/great distance since 20+ weeks. I always assumed it was due to my job (nursing shifts) but I haven't worked during this pregnancy so I assumed it's just the shape of my body and uterus. Looking forward to being more active again! Less than two weeks left... I hope.

Hi all,
They think it's my body taking it's toll and due to baby being breech he's kicking down below a lot than normal.
They will measure my cervix, the amount of fluid around baby and the placenta function at my 28 week growth scan.
Just got to keep going. Xx
