My hips!! Waaah 😭

I don't remember this with DS but st 21+2 My hips - outside and pelvis on the inside- are getting progressively worse. I'm struggling to sleep through the pain. The pillow between my legs isn't helping and any position I find comfy is only comfy enough for me to fall back to sleep for an hour or two. The pain from my hip radiates into my thigh.
During the day if I've been sat down, I will get up to do something and can hardly walk. After a few minutes it's a lot easier.

I'm being induced at 38 weeks, have I got another 17 weeks of this? Will it get better and if not had anyone got any tips to ease the discomfort.
Sad

Sounds like SPD/PGP, which is very sorry, you poor thing!

Get your GP to refer you for physio, and you'll probably get a huge tubigrip to ear from boob to bun and some crutches. And cocodomol for the pain

That was my worry. I was hoping it was just normal pregnancy pains.

Half asleep, I'm having a section at 38 weeks. I'm not being induced at all. Sleep deprivation! 😔😔

I'll have to work my way to the doctors on Tuesday.

If it's an option see a private chiro who specialises in pregnancy. I've a recommendation if you're near west London

TheEdgeOfGlory266 · 27/08/2017 10:35

Thank you. I'm not near London unfortunately. I'm sure I can get private referrals to a physio through my husband's work so I will have a look into that.

I found chiropractor far superior to physio and osteopath for SPD.

Get a serola belt and some crutches.

It's utterly vile. If you are working try to make reasonable adjustments so you can have a bit more rest now and then.

Get some freeze spray and also use ice on your back and on your crotch.

Much luck. Mines just starting up again and I'm only 14 weeks.

Thank you. I'm signed off work at the moment. I'm due to go back on the 11th but I sit down all day and I find that makes it far worse.

I ached a bit in the earlier days but the pain has come on quite suddenly over the space of 2 weeks.

I will defo look into a chiropractor. Thanks for the tip. Hope you don't suffer too much this time around.

Might be stating the obvious but keep your knees together! Don't take big strides when walking, get in and out of the car with your knees together and don't do heavy twisting things like hoovering.

That plus pilates.

Moanyoldcow · 27/08/2017 15:42

I was told to sit on a plastic bag in the car - much easier to twist out as less friction.

Also, get up every hour and take a small walk round the office.

I had intended to work up to 38 weeks pregnant but I ended up going at 34 after being signed down to 4 days a week from 30 weeks. Be prepared for going earlier than expected.

I'm only part-time this time so fingers crossed I will be able to get to 36 weeks.

Thanks everyone. Luckily I'm leaning at the earliest point anyway. We're moving out the city in a couple of weeks and I'm not planning on going back after my may leave so I'm going as early as I can to spend some time with DS. I'll make sure I do these things. I've never done Pilates before Confused

mat proof reading is not my strong point.

I am the same with awful SPD just suddenly came on about 2 weeks ago. It's knocked me for six and I am now seriously doubting how I will make into 37 weeks before finishing work. Luckily I saw a private physio last week and it had really helped. The main thing is rest and ensuring my knees NEVER part. Engage gluts and pelvic floor before standing and with every step. I've got a serola belt but I find it uncomfortable on my bump so only wear it when pain is terrible. Also get plenty of rest but when sitting down make sure your knees are together and do regular pelvic floor clenching! Good luck!

I found a pregnancy specific Pilates class that saved me during my second pregnancy, after spd awfulness during my first pregnancy.
