Any experience with either of these please?

I'm lightly to have a c section at 35 weeks so if anyone could recommend which with a premature baby & c section scar would be good please.

I will be using angelcare sensor mat too.

Any other recommendations gratefully received thank you

I don't think you can use a sensor mat with bedside cribs, can you? I've been researching that myself as I would have liked to but I think it picks up your own movements so it doesn't work.

northernbobbydazzler · 24/08/2017 20:02

I did wonder that peach, our first DC hated the Moses basket which is why I'm reluctant to get another.

Originally I looked at wooden cribs but at least you can travel with a fabric one (I stay at my parents a lot as DH travels for work).

The sensor mat really gave me piece of mind for the first few months so I definitely want to use it if poss.

I've just bought the Tutti Bambini Cozee Crib from Mothercare which is just gorgeous but from a thread I started a few months ago, getting hold of it is not without its issues as Mothercare have been really hit and miss... its new and I think demand has been higher than expected.

peachgreen · 24/08/2017 21:32

Yeah I can't decide what to do either. I think I'm going to get both - the mat will be used when we're not in bed - and see how it goes.

mamamalt · 24/08/2017 21:36

We used the chicco next to me and the angel care mat. And I would totally recommend both!! However pp is right you can't use the mat if the crib is in the mode where it is attached to your bed as it will pick up your movement. We just used it close to the bed side and found the height and sides to make lifting LO in and out very easy. It's also mesh sided meaning they can see you and you can lie and watch them sleep!
It's easily transportable and a good size but not huge. I loved it. Smile

Chocolatepudding85 · 24/08/2017 21:40

I would recommend the next-to-me as it's the biggest and you could use a sleepyhead (or another thing like that) in it, too. I don't think it's the prettiest one, but I do think it's the best because it's the biggest.

I don't see why you can't use a sensor mat in it?

Littlelouse · 24/08/2017 23:04

Second the Tutti Bambini! It's a lot more attractive than the Chicco, bigger than the Snuzpod and collapses if you want to travel with it. There's also a clever feature which allows you to raise one side of the cot, in case of reflux.

I'll admit, I didn't know that the Angelcare sensor wouldn't work with a bedside crib though. Have just shelled out for the AC517 model so that's disappointing.

northernbobbydazzler · 25/08/2017 07:17

Will have a look at the tutti bambini thank you.

Chicco dream has just been thrown into the mix as I'd quite like a rocking feature too, although I know that would definitely mess up the sensor mat.

Decisions, decisions!

Do they have a good resale value? I imagine this will be our last DC Sad

I bought the Chicco Next to Me for this pregnancy so have yet to test it. Our Cocoonababy fits inside so that's a plus. I have the Angelcare monitor but only used it when DD moved into her own room. If baby is sleeping next to you and esp if you are breastfeeding you will be quite aware of their movements and stirrings, I can't imagine that a monitor of any kind is needed.

northernbobbydazzler · 25/08/2017 07:44

I'm sure you're right newbain & with DC1 that's exactly what we did.

I'm just aware premature babies sometimes have more health issues so perhaps over cautious this time round x

I would vote for a Chicco or the Tutti. I had a Bednest first time and the stuff sides were a pain- kept rolling on to them at night if they were down. I wish DH would let me buy a Tutti for next time!

Misstomrs · 25/08/2017 07:51

Would definitely vote for the Chico as we had one. PP is right the mesh side and adjustable height were both excellent bonuses and as it's the largest crib of its type it lasted a lot longer than friends' alternatives. Ours is in the loft, just in case! So don't know about re-sale though I'm afraid. Good luck xxx

Blueroses99 · 25/08/2017 08:00

I had to cancel my order for the Cozee as Mothercare kept changing the delivery dates and then when I eventually got through on the phone after an hour, they admitted a supply problem and didn't know when they were going to receive them from the manufacturer. My premature baby was ready to come home so we cancelled and bought another. I chose the Chico Next2Me rather than Snuzpod as a replacement (not from mothercare) as my little one has reflux. As far as I know, Tutti Bambini are only supplying via Mothercare at the moment which is a shame.

Re the Angelcare monitor, neonatal units don't recommend them for use at home just so you know.

miniloco · 25/08/2017 08:19

I used the knuma huddle. It has the benefit of being able to take the side down and put it up without having to detach it from the bed. Which I think you have to do with the next to me? My angel care mat says you can't use it with co sleeping cribs if they are attached to the bed. Can i ask the above poster why they don't recommend using these mats at home? Genuine curiosity!

northernbobbydazzler · 25/08/2017 08:32

That's interesting to know blue, we already have the angelcare from DC1 so not a new purchase thankfully if we don't use it.

Think I'm going to go & look at them in RL, shame our closest mothercare is over an hour away!

It was discussed at our discharge planning meeting so I'm afraid I don't remember the details as there was so much to take in!

After 3 months in NNU with premature and sick babies, my observation is that babies don't have apnoea (stop breathing for 20 seconds) anywhere near as much as monitor sellers lead you to believe. If a sick or premature baby doesn't apnoea, it seems to play on fear to monitor a healthy baby at home. As a parent I know there is always that "what if..." however so I do understand why a monitor might be used.

Please call ahead to check the Cozee is instore before you travel an hour as I couldn't find one anywhere and decided to order without seeing it in the end.

EveMoneypenny · 25/08/2017 09:45

I used the Angelcare and the Snuzpod last time and will do again this time. We didn't actually use the Snuzpod as a proper cosleeping crib though - we ended up having it right beside the bed but not attached and with the side up. I had a c section and an enormous heavy baby and just couldn't get the hang of sliding him across to me for feeding - I had to sit up and pick him upwards. Despite this I did like the Snuzpod - I could look over and see how he was at all times (through the mesh) which was comforting. He outgrew it by 5 months, so if I was buying one of these cribs now I'd probably opt for one of the bigger ones. The Angelcare mat worked fine with this setup, just a couple of false alarms.
