Does any one else's bump go to feeling hard then other times soft?

Yep all the time Smile

How far along are you? It sounds like you are having Braxton Hicks if you are in the later stages

Bubble04 · 23/08/2017 08:17

Mine did that all the time. I'm told it was braxton hicks, but I never felt anything x

Lweji · 23/08/2017 08:21

It's most likely Braxton Hicks, if kind of sudden.
But it could also be your baby turning around. If they have their backs towards your front, it will feel smoother and harder. If they are facing the front, it will feel softer and less defined.
With some practice you can distinguish the head side from the bum side.

How far along are you? 😊

I'm 22 weeks? So I wouldn't imagine it's braxton hicks yet?

I can't feel anything either but I'm only 22 weeks. Glad he's quite normal I was worrying 🙈

I definitely got them that early, but didn't get any pain with them at all, even later in pregnancy. Midwife said they were braxton hicks x

fatfingeredfran · 23/08/2017 09:10

Could also be the baby's position - hard when its back outwards as you feel the bum and back , soft when it's back to back.

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/08/2017 09:13

I was just coming to say positioning can do this. When the back or bun or head are outwards your bump will feel hard

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 23/08/2017 09:13

Oh really? I'm seeing my widwife soon so will ask her about it. I'm not feeling any pain at all with them. Thank you xx

I kind of get this and I'm 19+5. The bump always feels squishy during the day but if I get up during the night its rock hard and sometimes I can almost feel my belly skin stretching, it feels so tight! I guess it was baby's position?

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 23/08/2017 10:37

I get that stretchy tight feeling too. By the sounds of it yeah it must be baby's position. Thank you😊

Mine does and it seems to be baby's position, you can literally see her sticking her back and bum out (from about 32 weeks) which is when it goes hard, other times she seems to hide round my spine and I'm flabby again!

Fairy45 · 23/08/2017 18:44

Yep and also sometimes i can really feel parts of baby and then others ita just like im fat and theres nothing there!

Lweji · 23/08/2017 18:55

At 20 weeks we can hardly feel the baby moving, so it's more likely contractions.
Feeling the baby would be more towards 30 weeks when there's less room.

moggle · 23/08/2017 18:59

I noticed this from 16 weeks with DD and the midwife told me it was braxton hicks. It's just the uterus muscles contracting. This time around I've been feeling it from 10 weeks! Especially at night and in the morning. Or if I go over a bump in the car or have sex.... guess it's a protection method!! It's weird suddenly like a hard ball in there.

dangle90 · 23/08/2017 19:12

I'm 20 weeks and this happened with me the other day I was so worried I just didn't feel pregnant anymore! But had my scan today and both girls are doing fine :) so I just assume it was there position. It's all so worrying isn't it x
