So purchased new furniture today. Two chest drawers and two bedsides. Whist do was out I sneakily built a set. Wasn't heavy as build on floor and tilt up. Then got the bug and done the rest.. I kinda got carried away and was cautious on anything that may of been heavy etc. But now I ache. My knees and back mainly with bit of muscle cramp in belly. Dp is out and don't know I've done it all. Now I'm worried. Stupid I know. I'm 11.2

I wouldn't worry at all. Pregnant women all over the world do heavy, manual work every day. Heavy lifting isn't actually dangerous to the baby, it's just more likely you'll pull a muscle etc due to the hormones making things 'relax'

I kind of thought that tbh. The ache in tummy is more like the skin under belly button but not internal iyswim. And a bit crampy but like u say it should be ok x

Don't worry OP, I think anyone would ache after putting that much furniture together so well done on being so productive!

Maybe use the rest of the evening to relax and take it easy tomorrow to put your mind at rest

Mum2oneds · 22/08/2017 22:28

Yeah definitely will be resting dp is home to my so he will be my minion lmao

Yes you've overdone it. Now rest up!

itsmetree · 22/08/2017 22:33

If you don't normally do all that you may have overdone it, pregnancy makes you just feel it more. I used to be a carpet fitter when pregnant with DS1 and I fitted an entire house on my own the day I gave birth!! That was a normal day for me!

I am generally active, active job. Always doing housework and re arranging stuff.?

It certainly is possible to overdo it, physically or mentally (e.g. Too much stress) during pregnancy.

Yes, women all over the world work hard while pregnant. But the same women all over the world also occasionally go into premature labour or have bleeds or are put on bedrest after overdoing it. A close friend ended up in hospital with bleeding and contractions after a stressful day clearing out a flooded living room.

It seems very unlikely that anything out of the ordinary will happen because of your efforts today OP but your body is giving you signals via tiredness, aches and sore belly to have a rest! Don't worry too much unless you feel sharp pain or bleeding.

I would say rest up and don't make a habit of furniture fitting throughout your pregnancy Wink but at the same time don't get over-panicked, I've spent the whole of this pregnancy lifting my 2 stone toddler around (albeit with care in mind, bend at the knees etc.) and have been ok. But as i think has been said above if not used to a lot of heavier work then you will feel the effects more.
Your body's ligments because looser in pregnancy due to hormones so there's a greater risk of injury to yourself - baby should be ok but do take care.
