Would love to hear your thoughts on

Macy
or Macie

Can't decide which way we prefer the spelling.

This is Dc no.3, we already have a Harrison and Maddie and we like Henri if this ones a boy.

BTW we live in France so are looking for a name that works well here and in the UK.

Tutter · 31/03/2007 10:44

usandnosleep · 31/03/2007 10:45

like Macy

littleEasterlapin · 31/03/2007 10:46

I prefer Macie, actually (sorry, small mouse).. Macy makes me think of Macy Gray.

How would you pronounce it in France? more mah-cee than may-cee?

Pinkchampagne · 31/03/2007 10:47

Like Macy

Nemo2007 · 31/03/2007 10:47

Macy

or Maisie?

Nbg · 31/03/2007 10:48

Macy

Tutter · 31/03/2007 10:48

i wonderde about pronunciation too LL - surely the french would struggle with macy/macie?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/03/2007 10:53

I am thinking of Macy as in Macy Grey. I have a friend here with a Maisey as in small mouse.

Tutter I like Martha, not sure dh will. I'll sound him on that one.

Littleeasterlapin, thats a good point about the pronounciation. It probably wound be Mah-cee but I don't mind that to be honest. Maddie is short for Madison and we just loved the way the midwifes said it, Mad- I- Son. It was between that and Madeline but their pronounciation sold it for us. Will check that one out on Macy.

I like Macie

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/03/2007 10:56

Our boys name will be pronounced differently here to in France too. Henri, will be Enri here and Henry in the UK.

Like it spelled Macy.
We were going to have Harrison for a boy, but we have 2 girls!!!

littleEasterlapin · 31/03/2007 10:59

We have an 'Enri (well, Henry ) and if he gets a sister one day, she will be Madeleine... yours have lovely names. Macy will be cool, are you expecting her to be six foot tall with crazy hair?!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/03/2007 11:08

lol, the crazy hair she may have, Maddie is curly (not that curly) but all over the place. 6ft tall. I'm 5ft4. Nahhh don't think so.

LL are you in France? I'm guessing you are with a henri and a little Lapin?

I think it looks rather odd ending in ie but fine as Macy.

PestoEasterMonster · 31/03/2007 11:13

Well, I think Macie is cute.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/03/2007 16:19

Just bumping for any more opinions.

i like macie, lovely name!

MerryMarigold · 31/03/2007 16:25

prefer the 'ie'. Also looks like it could be short for something! (not sure what). Macy with a y reminds me of an American department store (and I've only been to US twice in my whole life).

there's lots of names that work in both countries:

Luc
Isabel(le)

oh loads...just can't think of them!

Boco · 31/03/2007 16:26

to be honest what comes to mind is 'like a mace', 'she's a bit macie'

but maybe that's just me.

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2007 16:28

I like Macy

PeachyClair · 31/03/2007 16:30

I like

And it will work with Mady- we have two ds's starting with S and just get S Peach printed on their name tapes- cheaper by far LOL!

(well we did until we had ds3, now its just The Peach Family LOL)

treacletart · 31/03/2007 16:47

I think Macy is a better spelling. My neice is half french and is called Clara, believe Ewan Macgregor's daughter is half french and has the same name too.

iwouldgoouttonight · 31/03/2007 16:57

I prefer Macy. Love the name Maisie too. I also like Clara - my grandma was called Clara but pronounced it 'Claira'.

Tutter · 31/03/2007 17:02

yes got the idea of clara from the ewan mcgregor book

if ds2 were a girl that would be his (her) name
