Well yesterday I went for my "12 week scan" and to get the usual stuff done, this is my first child and I was gobsmacked to find out that as of yesterday I went from being what the midwife and Doctor thought would be my 12th week to being 20w +5. (Due date being estimated 3rd Jan)

I am still in shock, am having to what I feel like now rush round to let family (Direct) know of the news because I am so much further on than we all expected.

Has this happened to anyone else on here or have you all know straight away?

Thanks for reading and any replies.

I was the other way around, my due date was pushed back a few weeks. I don't blame you for being shell shocked, its a big jump but be kind to yourself. Remember you have 19 weeks left, there is no rush to do anything. Tell family and friends when you are comfortable and get organised with the things you need to do. Do you work? Might be time to tell HR and think about maternity leave and find out what pay you are entitled to.

Seriously though, take the rest of the day to yourself to process the news and crack on with everything else tomorrow at the earliest. Congratulations!

I work full time, I need to bring in a form from the midwife before they can even do anything regarding my Mat leave I know I am entitled to 6-9 months but that's as much as I know regarding it atm, I just wasn't sure how to take it all as I didn't even think I would be that far along.

I will say the one thing I did like was being able to see everything and knowing that he (yes it is a boy) is growing great and they are happy with both his and my health at this point.

I am going to chill out tonight as I have work at 7am tomorrow morning and I gotta wait for a week to see the manager to go forward that side of things.

Thanks for the reply makes me feel a little less stressed.

If you are both healthy then that's all you need to know right now. Look up your work's maternity policy tomorrow and give it a good read when you get home. You'll get the matb1 form from the midwife soon.

I got my mat b form at 22weeks but midwife said it's normally 24 weeks.

Congratulations. I'm quite jealous. I would have loved to skip my first 20 weeks of this pregnancy!

Thanks I will look up the info needed tomorrow.

@ScottsLamb I have been very lucky tbh and my friend tells me all the time because I didnt get morning sickness in the past 5 months I have been sick about 4 maybe 5 times and only started to show the past 2-3 weeks.

Both baby and myself are really healthy and I just started to feel kicks (like someone is flicking my belly from inside) the past week.

Being part of the forums here and able to post this made me feel a lot better about things.
