PAPP-A levels - anyone have any experience?

Hi everyone

I had an integrated test on Wednesday which gave my risk for Downs Syndrome at 1 in 17 and my PAPP-A level was 0.02 (I understand it should be 1 and that the two can be related). I had a CVS which has ruled out Downs, but I am told the pregnancy might not be viable as technically the baby should miscarry or could die later on in pregnancy.

I can't get to see my consultant until Tuesday so if anyone has any experience of this I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks..

hi no experience but I just wanted to say I hope everything works out ok. It seems a bit strange to me that they would say that as to have had a nuchal and cvs you must be 11/12 weeks pg i.e the pregnancy is established and if the scan showed no obvious abnormality and genetic conditions ruled out with cvs then why would the baby miscarry? I have only heard of the level of two hormones (ß·hCG & PAPP·A) in the mother?s blood being a soft marker for Downs but that has been ruled out. Sorry don't know what a low level means though - this must be very worrying, hopefully the consultant will give you a fuller explanation on Tuesday rather than just leaving you with that worrying information. Good luck.
