So I just got my period and my baby is only 7 weeks old! I thought that exclusively breastfeeding halted ovulation and periods? I even asked the doc at my 6 week check as we've been having unprotected sex and she said I was fine as long as I was feeding every 4 hours during the day and 6 hours at night, which I am. I'm gutted, I thought I'd be period free for a few more months lol x

Mine came back after 6 weeks and I was exclusively breastfeeding too. Life isn't fair, is it?!

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 17/08/2017 19:05

Ooh don't rely on breastfeeding as a contraceptive, it's really not reliable.

thegirlupnorth · 17/08/2017 19:06

Can't believe the doctor told you that it's nonsense. Please use birth control unless you're planning another one soon.

TwinkleStars15 · 17/08/2017 19:18

Lorelai No it's not fair! The only time us ladies get to enjoy the freedom of no periods and they come back 4 months too early Angry

thegirl definitely not planning another just yet!

Seriously if your doctor is dumb enough to recommend unprotected sex, you need a new doctor!

user1483387154 · 17/08/2017 19:22

breast feeding does not act as contraception, Sorry you have been told this crap!
Please get yourself back onto prescribed contraception or be prepared to be preganant again very quickly

ShowPineapple · 17/08/2017 19:35

Mine came back at 4 weeks when exclusively breastfeeding! The doctor said it was really unusual. I had been looking forward to not having periods for a while.

MadeForThis · 17/08/2017 19:38

My friend was pregnant when her DD was 3 months old because she believed that exclusively breastfeeding would act as a contraceptive. Please don't rely on it.

MrsCK · 17/08/2017 19:39

Op I would poas. You are most fertile in the weeks following birth.

Pennywhistle · 17/08/2017 19:43

Why on earth are you having unprotected sex??? Shock

RelaxMax · 17/08/2017 19:45

Your dr is talking total crap. Breastfeeding reduces your risk of getting pregnant but absolutely not reliable as contraception!

NerrSnerr · 17/08/2017 19:47

Please ignore the doctor and start using contraception! Breastfeeding really can't be relied on.

koalab · 17/08/2017 19:48

I had two then they stopped again. The second one was only very light.

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 17/08/2017 19:49

You are lucky your period came! That is terrible advice from your doctor Shock get some kind of contraception sorted unless you want another baby of course!

TwinkleStars15 · 17/08/2017 21:35

She's got her 8 week check on Tuesday so that's handy!! I couldn't imagine being pregnant so soon after having a baby! Shock
