Everything seems to be happening so quick. Last week I hadn't even DTD and today I know I'm pregnant and I feel really ill.

I can't concentrate at work, my head is pounding, I have felt sick all day and I can't stop going to the toilet.

I'm 1 week pregnant, how can I be so ill?

Well, the digi can detect pregnancy up to 5 days before you're due - when would you be due?

Penny31 · 17/08/2017 17:24

I was due on sunday

If you only ovulated on Friday then surely your af wouldn't be due for another week - 10 days? Did you dtd the week before?

Penny31 · 17/08/2017 17:32

No I dtd on Friday and af due sun. We were planning on trying from Sep. That was just a drunken practice Wink but didn't use protection.

I don't know when I ovulated...I wasn't really tracking!

This really doesn't add up. I'd wait and re test.

Penny31 · 17/08/2017 17:48

I know it doesn't! I've done another digital one and it took ages to give a result and says not pregnant. That makes the most sense. I just don't know why the one yesterday was positive and my af is late.

Wish af would just arrive!

I didn't think you could get false positives? Now suddenly you're getting negatives? If you conceived a week ago, that means you ovulated a week ago and your period wouldn't be due for another week at least

gingeristhenewblack43 · 17/08/2017 19:15

I've had a false positive and it was very distressing as we had been trying for 2 years and just starting 'investigations'. All the nurses at the gynae clinic were cheering but I 'knew' I wasn't. Went back a few days later and another test was negative. So false positives are possible, apparently Vit C supplements can cause them.

Penny31 · 18/08/2017 06:36

The only supplements I am taking are trying for a baby ones. I've taking 3 tests that say negative and 1 that say positive. I was so sick last night but I'm fine this morning. I guess only time will tell. I just want to know either way! Af is 5 days later than I thought now and I'm usually so regular. This sucks!

If you've had a positive on a digital then you are or at least were pregnant.
Get a First response early if you can and another digital and do them in two days x

Penny31 · 18/08/2017 10:59

@ginger I'm sorry about your false positive. It really messes with your head!

If the first and only time had any sex was 2 days before af was due, then it us extremely unlikely you are pregnant unless your periods are erratic and you may have ovulated late. You can generally only get pregnant mid- cycle. Sperm can hang around inside you for up to a week so it us possible to get pregnant a week after having sex, as it were, but once the egg has gone unfertilised you can't get pregnant that month, which is usually within 48 hours post ovulation. Cervical mucus changes during the month. It starts off lotion- like pre ov, changes to water or eggwhite at most fertile time, then goes pasty or flaky after ovulation. You can use those clues to help track your own fertility.
Something has gone strangely here, but you don't have sex 2 days before your period and get a positive result 5 days later. Bodies don't work that way.

Thanks oldbirdy. I knew that it was impossible, i usually ovulate and have af like clockwork.I did a pregnancy test 5 days later because it all felt strange, af is never late and dh wanted me too. I was completely thrown when it came back positive. All I can think is that it was a faulty test!
