Lost mucus plug at 32 weeks

Hi can anyone offer me their experiences of strong contractions and lost mucus plug at 32 weeks? I'm 32 weeks 5 days today and for the past few weeks I've been having strong braxton hicks and brown discharge. The contractions have got stronger and I'm having them a few times a day, really strong and painful. The discharge lasted a few days but has now stopped I was checked in hospital for infections but came back clear. Now last night I lost a bit of brown jelly like fluid and a larger amount today, its like clear streaks and stained brown. It's my fourth pregnancy and had contractions through last pregnancy with occasional brown discharge and went to 39 weeks ( c section), but never lost the plug this early. What are the chances of me having this baby early and should I be really worried? Should also add I'm booked in for a c section in 6 weeks time. Thanks in advance

I didn't want to read and run .

I don't really know about the brown discharge as I'm not a medical profesisonal, but if you are having the baby early you should be fine. My waters broke at 33 weeks and I was kept in hospital for a few days while they gave me steroid injections and antibiotics. I had my DS a few days later at 34 +1. He was tiny at 4 pound 13 but he was fine. He did get an infection, but he was closely monitored and home within 2 weeks.

All the best, I'm sure everything will be fine. Flowers

Hi OP, I think if I were in your shoes I would phone through to the midwife/hospital/birthing centre you're booked into and run it past them. Were you planning a home birth at all??? It does sound like things are happening but the midwife could advise you. Good luck with everything and meeting new baby ;)

Thanks for your reply, that's reassuring to me.

I rang the hospital earlier on but they don't seem concerned, just told me to wait and see. I'm just worried about what would happen if I was to give birth what the chances would be for his survival and health implications. It's a planned c section for the end of September when I'll be 39 weeks, but I can't see myself getting that far.

Please don't worry!

If it is a preterm rupture of membranes, the doctors will try to delay birth as much as possible. You will be given steroids to strengthen his lungs. If your baby still comes before 36 weeks, the chances are he will go to NICU but he will be so well looked after 24/7. They really are the most incredible staff!

I've seen babies as early as 26 weeks there and although they were fragile, they were doing fine.

Also my friend had her baby at 31 weeks and she's a lovely healthy little girl now.

Hi @Demirose87 , I'm 29 weeks with dc4 and have had a few braxton hicks and cervical pain (my labours start with cervical pain rather than stomach pain) sessions already. This baby seems to be affecting my body more, he is predicted to be big (10lb6oz estimated birth weight) but not sure if it's that causing problems. I don't feel like he'll stay in till my section at 39 weeks BUT I said that last year with dc3 and I ended up with an elective section at 40 weeks. With her I did have a few false alarms, one around 34 weeks that I stayed up all night on a birthing ball in pain but nothing came of it.
Ring the hospital whenever you are worried, ask to be checked over if you feel there's something going on.
I am expecting to have a few false alarms this time, I was so worried last week I was looking at survival rates etc and threads on prem babies (and told DH there would be no more sex just in case lol) but I have just let go a bit and decided that worrying will do me no good and just take it as it comes.
Can your mucus plug regenerate if you know what I mean? I've a feeling I was told something like that last time.

Good luck and I hope things calm down for you.

Oddsocks sounds like my last pregnancy. So many times I felt like I was going into labour but she stayed in. I think maybe with it being fourth pregnancy my body is under more strain. Glad this is going to be my last baby.
