Strong gut-feeling/instinct on gender

Not sure if this is the right place for this question so I'm sorry if it's wrong!!

How often has anyone had an incredibly strong gut feeling about what sex their baby was going to be?

And how often has this been right/wrong?

I was 100% completely wrong both times. Utterly convinced, utterly wrong. Next time, whatever I think it is, I'm planning for the opposite!

SaltySeaBird · 12/08/2017 21:08

100% sure with DC1 and we always said he, the sonographer said he (in conversation but never confirmed sex) and so I was shocked but delighted when DC1 was a girl as I really did want a daughter.

I didn't learn my lesson and was convinced we were having another girl and got all the girl stuff ready, referred to the bump as she but did feel quite sad I'd never have a boy as I would have liked one of each. Had multiple scans and while not confirmed nub theory etc always looked like a girl but I was delighted yet shocked to have a boy.

StorminaBcup · 12/08/2017 21:10

I'd convinced myself I was having a girl and had a massive WTF face when I was handed a boy. I even asked if they'd given me the right baby. I was off my face on gas and air to be fair.

I have so known someone to have been told they were having a boy at their 20 wk scan and had it confirmed again at a private gender scan, and then be handed a girl. Until it's in your arms OP it's not 100% Smile

I was 100% sure DS1 was a girl. We didn't even talk about boys names Grin

Lofari · 12/08/2017 21:17

My last pregnancy I was convinced I was having a girl. 20 week scan confirmed we were having a girl ......scans at 29 and 34 weeks proved without a shadow of a doubt my baby had a penis 😂 I did indeed birth a 9 lbs 12 oz bruiser of a boy.

Notsure1234 · 12/08/2017 21:18

I was certain dc1 was a girl until I had my 12wk scan. As soon as baby appeared on screen I had an overwhelming feeling it was a boy. Had it confirmed at 14wks through cvs that it was a boy!

Currently expecting ds2, had no strong feelings either way this time

I wasn't sure with my first, second I absolutely knew I was having a girl and I was right.

I read somewhere (can't remember where, sorry) that the mothers gut instinct is right about 70% of the time.

EsmesBees · 12/08/2017 21:28

I was convinced mine were both girls both times, in fact even before I got pregnant I just had a feeling I would end up with two girls.

Thenorthbloodywellremembers · 12/08/2017 22:01

I didn't have a strong feeling, but I worked with a lot of older women from around the world who all told me I was having a boy, so I believed them. After DD was born, one if them did say that actually she had known it would be a girl, despite previously agreeing it would be a boy, because "girls suck all the beauty out of your face" Hmm Grin

mellongoose · 12/08/2017 22:03

The only person to tell me I was having a girl was my mum. She was right. Oh and a lovely hippy psychic lady who kept referring to my bump as 'she'. Everyone else said boy.

mellongoose · 12/08/2017 22:04

Ps I had thought girl but didn't really know!! Blush

Intransige · 12/08/2017 22:06

I was completely convinced both times that I was having a boy, but they both turned out to be girls.

SaS2014 · 12/08/2017 22:50

Absolutely everyone was convinced my SiL was having a boy, no one had a single doubt! Tho they never found out at scan as wanted a surprise. It certainly surprised us all when she had a beautiful little girl! No clue why we were all so 'sure' but we really were convinced lol!

MerlinsLeftButtock · 12/08/2017 23:48

With my first, I 100% knew I was having a boy. I found out at 20 week scan because I was so convinced, and I needed to know I was right! This time around, I felt it was probably a girl, but was in denial and tried to convince myself it was another boy. Scan says girl ... so, I guess I was right both times, but the second time I was grudgingly right 😂

Ankleswingers · 12/08/2017 23:55

I just 'knew' the sexes in both of my pregnancies and I was correct.

Never had a gender scan. It was pure gut instinct.
