Consultant led care

This might be a daft question, but if you are under consultant led care for your pregnancy, does that mean you have a consultant led delivery at the end of it?

No, in the UK you're still looked after by a midwife in labour but would probably have to deliver on a consultant led unit (one with doctors read-only available rather than a midwife led unit or birth centre- although can depend on your situation and why you ate CLC). Who delivers your baby depends what happens in labour (ie if you need assistance)
You usually will have extra appointments antenatally with the obstetric team (you might never sed the consultant but be seen by a registrar) in clinic to make sure you're getting the right care etc.
Hope this helps a bit.

Readily not read only. Stupid autocorrect.

Ah right! That's really helpful, thank you. All my appointments (except booking appointment and routine scans) have been with a consultant so far, due to a blood-clotting disorder that caused an early miscarriage and a late miscarriage before being diagnosed.

It could be that if my labour goes okay I will just be looked after by a midwife. Will definitely be in hospital, I don't have any interest in birth centres or midwife-led units or anything as I'm finding pregnancy after loss nerve-wracking enough and I'm just aiming for a nice safe delivery! Smile

I'm so sorry for your previous losses but really pleased you're getting the right support and care this time. I expect it will be a busy pregnancy of appointments etc. Good luck with everything Smile
