Advice please......am I in the latent stage of labour?

Can someone please offer any anecdotal advice?
I am 38+4 will DC2. My first I was induced at two weeks late and never suffered any of these symptoms so have nothing to compare it to.
The past 3 days I have been walking like an old lady, my pelvis is killing me! I have period type cramps (pretty bad ones) that do come and go but they will last for hours, not 1 min. My lower back also has been aching. I have had an increase in discharge, but no plug or bloody show. Waters still intact.
What the heck is going on? I called midwife last night she said it did sound like latent phase and probably won't go late. She won't do an internal until 40 weeks. To top it all off I just got angry at DH for bringing muddy boots into house and not cleaning up and he stormed off. FML :(

I'm 41+2 and I've been getting similar for about a week now on and off, it's infuriating! If the cramps are sort of continuous for a long time, it's probably your uterus getting 'prepared' is what I was told. If they come and go and last a certain amount of time (e.g. every ten mins for a min each) you're probably starting labour.
Everyone is very different so keep in contact with your midwife and hospital and go and get checked out if it's causing you worry. Hope things move along for you quicker than they have for me! X

Did DC1's head engage before you had him/her? If not, the walking funny thing might be that this one's head has engaged. Usually it's more noticeable the first time it happens (vividly remember when it happened to me with DS1, coming out of a Lebanese restaurant!)

Once the head is engaged it can feel like quite a lot of pressure in your lower pelvis and it makes you walk a bit like John Wayne

Other than that, any noticeable period-type pain is definitely a sign you're getting close (although I realise this is stating the obvious and doesn't answer your question)

Good luck!

Hi @RedPandaMama and @TresDesolee - omg it's so frustrating. The cramps pains tend to be there constantly, they will go but will last for a few hours each time. And yes my first DC engaged quite early. I had midwife two days ago, apparantley baby is only 1/5 engaged. Funny thing is I had a big nap this afternoon and everything has eased off. So annoyed. I was hoping it was the beginning of the end :)
I'm going to try and convince DH to DTD tonight, see if it helps any. I'll keep drinking the raspberry leaf tea too. Thanks for your replies. Although it sucks, it's comforting knowing I'm not the only one going through it! :)

Oh that's my theory blown then! Good luck with DH Grin
