Slightly odd experience at my 24 week appointment with the GP today and was wondering if anybody could shed any light.
Everything at the appointment went well and was told everything with baby seemed healthy. However, when the doctor measured my fundal height (or at least I assume that's what he was doing) he came back with 18cm - and he measured twice. He didn't seem at all concerned, commented that my uterus was where it should be and, looking over my notes post-appointment, his only note on fundal height is that its 'in umbilicus' (aka where it should be).
I was slightly concerned so took my own measurement when I got home and got 24cm bang on. I got my DH to double check as well. He too got 24cm.
I'm not that worried about this (experience has taught me that, if your doctor seems chilled, nine times out of ten there's nothing to worry about - plus he's asking me to come back with a second urine sample tomorrow as a precautionary check for something else so he doesn't strike me as the type of person who would let something potentially serious slide). Plus, if baby was really that undersized, I'm sure it would have been flagged on 20 week scan, which also came back as normal.
It just strikes me as....odd. Any clues? Could there be something else he was measuring that I've spaced on or could he have his own special system for keeping track of these things? Or are measures ever just really off at this stage?
