My midwife has never asked me if I do pelvic floor exercises but I have seen a few articles saying how important they are. I have an app that reminds me
3x a day to do 1set of slow hold and 1set of fast squeeze. Recently saw an article saying they should be done 6x a day! I have 14 weeks to go... how often do others do them?

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my first currently trying to do the 3 x a day with the same app by the sounds. I surprise sneezed this morning a peed myself a little Shock, I think I need to do more.

Pregnant with 2nd and still forgetting to do them after 1st pregnancy. Constantly doing pissy sneezes. Definitely need to work on it. What is this app you speak of??

Glad is not just me who is a little slack in the bladder department Smile, the app I've got is the NHS Squeezy one recommended by the hospital physio (dodgy back/hip at dad to my list of ailments), think I had to pay for it mind.

Firstpotato are your three a day working, I'm getting worried!

Haha I'm 26 weeks and I peed myself a little whilst throwing up from brushing my teeth!

My app is the NHS one too. I feel like 3x a day is doing nothing for me. I've start panic exercises which is basically me doing them every 2 hours Confused

Not pregnant, but I remember that after I had dd 10 years ago, midwife told me I should be doing ten sets of ten a day. I failed, and now wee myself all the time. Need to try and get it sorted!!

I had physio during pregnancy due to SPD and was advised to do three sets of ten clench and hold followed by three sets of ten quick clenches and to do that three times a day.

I don't do any. 39 weeks now and still have full bladder control. There is such thing as over working the pelvic floor and you can have as many problems with it being too tight as too slack.

I would recommend exercises such as squats which work your pelvic floor without the need for kegels

I commit the cardinal sin of stopping and starting when I pee and trying to hold farts in. I'd never remember or stick to it otherwise. Haven't had a UTI... yet... At least it works. Never had any issues with sneezing or trampolines.

Thanks all. Smile

Please, please do them! The thought of doing a little wee every time I laugh, sneeze or cough made me do my pelvic floor excercises any time I remembered. Now at 45 when all of those around me make jokes about having a little dribble when laughing etc I can relax knowing it has never happened to me. I still do them when I remember or am reminded like now......squeeze, squeeze

Meh. I think the state of your pelvic floor after children is pretty much down to luck (combination of genetics and the type of birth you had). I've had three kids (twins included!) and never did any exercises. I have a pelvic floor of steel. I know other people who did the exercises religiously and ended up with huge problems (often after foreceps delivery/bad tearing).
