Hi just wondering if there are any ladies out there who have essential hypertension and pregnant? Im currently 37 weeks and as of last week had my medication increased for a second time.

First time being 32 weeks - from 50mg labetalol twice a day to 100mg labetalol 3 times a day. I am now on 200mg labetalol 3 times a day. On weekly blood pressure checks but feel absolutley fine in myself with no other problems - no protein, swelling and bloods are all fine.

baby slightly smaller but above the 10th centile, weighing approx 5lb 5oz at last weeks growth scan ( i was 5lb 13oz when i was born full term so i thought this was great in comparison).

Anyway, consultant said we will see how thing go but if BP doesn't settle then may talk about induction at 38+4 weeks. I really don't want induction :(

anyone any experience with this ?

Hi I was in your situation, medication was increased around 32 weeks, induction planned for 37+2 to try to avoid pre eclampsia or problems with the placenta. My blood pressure started going up at 35 weeks and I was diagnosed with pre eclampsia at 35+4 and induced the next day, baby born weighing 5lb3 and healthy but a little jaundiced. If they induce you it will be for good reason, trust me! Hope all goes well for you.

thanks for replying flipper ive got so much going on with house renovations (supposed to have been finished weeks ago) and i'm sure its contributing to my higher than usual bp.

dreading going for my bp check on wednesday incase they want to do an induction sooner rather than later x

I know induction isn't what you want but you're at term now and they'll only do it if they really think it's necessary. Hope all works out well for you.
