I'm 4 weeks+4 days according to last AF. I'm just in a fluster and flap as I'm paranoid about something going wrong. I'm reading all sorts of horror stories online about missed miscarriages and eptopics ect. I just wondered if anybody else was feeling paranoid Confused. I know it's early days and obviously nobody can tell me itll all be fine but i just get worried easily. I actually googled the statistics of when miscarriages ect can happen and was shocked to see it happens in over 75% of pregnancys. Please anybody out there who can in some way "make me feel a bit better" lol Blush xx

Rest assured there's absolutely nothing you can do which will change the outcome. That's about the only "reassurance" there is.

There's no words that will ease your mind as you'll no doubt worry anyway. I was incredibly paranoid when I found out I was pregnant. Waited bloody years for it. Drove myself mad googling statistics and the sad truth is, if your going to miscarry then you'll miscarry, you can do naf all about it.
I told myself whether you worry or not, its not gonna stop your body from miscarrying if that's what it's chose to do- the only thing is will stop is the enjoyment out of your pregnancy.

Relax and wait for your scan. If you can't wait 12 weeks then get an early one at 8 and see the heart beat. Good luck Smile

Thanks for your replies, I'm not sure I'm entitled to an early scan as where i live the Dr refers you to a midwife but we don't usually get scanned until 12 weeks i don't think. Do you think it would be worth calling the midwife unit to explain my concerns? Although they probably won't offer an early scan just for peace of mind x

I had an early (private) scan at 7 Weeks to reassure myself it wasn't ectopic etc and it was reassuring but worrying is natural. Time in the first trimester goes so slowly but once you're past the 12 week mark the worry does ease. Later on when you start to feel baby move it's even better, so hang on in there it will get easier.

I googled everything, statistics etc and worried myself sick. It's worth noting that forums like MN etc are a huge support system to those going through something. People are more likely to post about a bad experience than a normal one, so sometimes on forums it feels like chances of a missed miscarriage are almost inevitable. Whilst it's great to get support, try and be kind to yourself and resist the urge to seek out that kind of stuff online X

Normally early scans are private. Google a place near you that do private ultrasounds. Normally there £60-£90.

xTTCTamsterx · 06/08/2017 19:20

Thanks all, yes your right, no good will come from Google lol. I'll see if i can get an early scan, just to save my sanity hehe 😊 x

You can book a private scan for maybe about 8 weeks? They do them in Mothercare for £89 and you can book online. I doubt your Dr or midwife will refer just because of anxiety because I reckon about 95% of us felt exactly the same at that stage!
I'm sure you'll be fine Flowers

SheSaidHeSaid · 06/08/2017 19:37

I had an early scan at 6+4 weeks, it was a deal I got off Groupon.

It was fantastic to see a heartbeat and know I wasn't imagining the fact I was pregnant. Would really recommend it.

Not strictly on subject - As someone called Debbie (now that's outing me...) and usually an up-beat sort-of-girl, please don't use the term Debbie Downer. In fact all the Debbies I know (and I know lots, all aged about 55,) are all very positive ladies.

Anyway congratulations on your pregnancy and a health tip for you - if everything is going well, stay away from Google!

honeysucklejasmine · 06/08/2017 19:45

My early scan cost £40. Well worth it!

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 06/08/2017 19:46

Have a look at this: datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php

At 4 + 4 you have a 78.4% chance of a successful pregnancy, and that percentage will increase every day. That website has been my constant companion for the last month and a half Smile

Owl1011 · 06/08/2017 19:54

Hi OP - worrying is a very natural part of pregnancy. The chances of having a successful pregnancy actually outweigh the changes of anything going wrong but it's still hard to relax in the early stages.

Same as a PP has said (and from previous experience) there is nothing you can do to prevent a MC but try to stay positive as you'll likely be fine.

I agree that private scans really do help to put your mind at rest (had one myself today) but congratulations on your wonderful news!

xTTCTamsterx · 06/08/2017 19:59

Awww thanks everyone! I feel better already! I knew i was being silly haha. I'll definitely look into having a private scan, 8-12 weeks seem a long way off lol! X

Congrats xtcc ⭐️ I'm 4weeks +6, I had fertility treatment so as part of package I get a scan at 7wk+4 but as others have said can pay for early scans privately for £40-80 depending on where you live/where you go.
I'm feeling quite numb to it all at the mo just doesn't seem real. I'm doing tests daily which seem to be keeping my sanity for now.
Good luck lovely x

cherryontopp · 06/08/2017 22:11

DPotter, I dont think OP was insinuating that all Debbies are Downers, all Horris's are Hungry and not all Myrtles Moan...maybe it was just because it has the same starting letter Hmm
