I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and having my first midwife appointment on the 17th, can anyone tell me the general timeline of appointments and scans?

Your midwife will give you a list of what weeks you will have appointments and scans. Some will come with blood tests, others wont. Some you will organise yourself, some you may get a letter in the post telling you. Make sure to ask which is which.

May depend on area but mine are;
Booking app and 12 week scan, sometimes together.
16 weeks midwife.
20 week scan.
28 weeks midwife, then every 3 weeks until birth.

We have drop in centres if need to speak to midwife in between. With my first I saw midwife every 2 weeks from about 16 weeks. I assume having the drop in centres and fewer appointments saves the nhs cash.

It varies and you get extra appointments if you are first time mum. Mine was

Booking appt
12Wk scan
16wk midwife
20Wk scan
25Wks (ftm)
28Wks
31Wks
34wks

Then onto fortnightly at 36, 38, 40 (ftm)

And if you go overdue 41weeks

I found my local maternity hospital website had all the information I needed in those early days

Our GP surgery website page has a document with what to expect and what happens when with a timeline etc - worth a look in case yours does.

Congratulations!
