So i saw dr on weds who felt stomach n said transverse, she was really impressed with how easy to map the baby my bump was and how clearly she could feel shoulder and even talked me through it all. Ive never felt anything in my pelvis at all and i can always feel babys solid back straight across my stomach sideways. Had midwife yesterday and she was like yep babys head down not engaged yet but all good. Now again tonight can clearly feel either end of baby along my stomach. Is it ridiculous that i dont trust midwifes judgement on this? Im 32 weeks so know ive plenty of time for baby to go head down but would feel happier if she felt same as myself and dr. Thoughts?

The baby moved between appointment?

Smellbellina · 04/08/2017 22:07

My mw mistook my baby's bottom for her head and sent me in for a scan. Turns out she just had a very boney bum!
Do you always have the same MW? Did you mention what the Dr said? My only advice would be you really need to be ready to speak up if you think something isn't right, difficult I know but absolutely reasonable and necessary.

Babies move all the time so its not unreasonable to think yours has moved inbetween these times. I'm 34 weeks and mines still alternating between breech and transverse although has been head down previously. Nobodies wrong, its just probably how your babies lying at that time.

Well, babies do move Grinalthough they probably have a favourite position they come back to.

In the nicest possible way, does it matter? You've a long time to go before it does.

Mine definitely shifted between transverse, oblique and head down over the course of a day. Right up until 38 weeks the daft thing was wavering between being head down and diagonal - in the two hours between one midwife appointment and a scan, I felt him move into my pelvis (and then out again later that evening). I was surprised to find that he'd finally started to engage at 38weeks, I couldn't feel much difference to when he was oblique.

Floellabella · 04/08/2017 23:07

I thought mine was transverse for ages when it wasn't. I was mistaking bottom and feet/knees for bottom and head I think. Either you or MW could be wrong, or baby could have moved. You've got a while before you need to worry so I wouldn't stress x

Oooooh i didnt realise they still moved that much now! I think he definitely prefers transverse at the mo then. When should they settle? I dont have 1 midwife no, im meant to but only saw my official 1 at booking apt and had different 1s ever since. Thanks everyone I know i sounded stupid but i thought they settled into a position much sooner. Thats reassured me ☺

They keep moving all the way through, even into labour although these are mainly kicks/turns etc so dont be alarmed if yours is still going for a while!!
