Chlamydia

Hello not sure if I'm posting this in the right place just looking for some hope really, I was diagnosed with chlamydia many years ago and treated it promptly. Me and my current partner have been trying for a baby for 6 months now and I've been reading online that the scarring that chlamydia can cause sometimes leaves you infertile. So my question is has anyone had chlamydia before and successfully gone on to have a child?

Yeah in my school days I did catch it and I'm not 37 weeks pregnant. I don't honestly think it causes a problem unless you don't know you have it and it goes untreated. By the way I was trying for a year until I got pregnant. I think the more pressure you put on yourself and think about it it doesn't happen x

I'm not medical so don't go just by what I'm saying but as I understand it, chlamydia affects a woman's fertility if has been untreated for two years or longer.

Talk this over with a health care professional for peace of mind but good luck and hope all goes well for you.

I've had chlamydia and I only found out when I got suspected pelvic inflammatory disease. I was always careful and I always had negative swab tests. Did you know that the body can clear chlamydia? Bizarre! Obviously, you don't want it hanging around too long otherwise it's more likely to cause damage. Anyway, I have never had a positive chlamydia swab but I have very high chlamydia titres in my blood (antibodies), which means I've had it and moreover, I had it for an unspecified time frame and was not treated for it so god knows how long I had it for. Even though I had negative swabs, I was treated for PID just to ensure it was gone from my upper reproductive tract. It was all very weird and confusing.
I am medical and I read lots of journals about it. The higher your chlamydia titres, the higher the chance of Fallopian tube blockage. According to the research, I had between a 50% chance of blocked tubes based on my chlamydia titres. Me and DH had been trying to conceive for a few months but in my CCG area you have to try for two years before you get investigated. As I knew there might be a problem, I booked a private hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which is an X-ray which shows whether your tubes are blocked. It was about £340 and GP made the private referral without hesitation. I didn't want to wait and would prefer to be referred earlier if there was a problem. Anyway, the test showed that both tubes were open and I'm now 17 weeks pregnant.
Get your GP to take your titres.
If they're raised, book a private HSG.

I had it in my uni days and am now 28 weeks pregnant. I have no idea how long I had it for before I treated it but had no problems conceiving xx
