25 Weeks too early to nest?

Hi everyone,
Currently 25 weeks pregnant with my first (DS) and am constantly battling with my husband about wanting to get organised and start sorting out babies clothes, drawers, cot etc! 🙈
We have everything bought (apart from a few things) and it's all just sitting in the room staring at me daily! DH is convinced I should be waiting until maternity leave (October) but I'm panicking incase baby comes early! 🙈
When did you ladies start organising everything?
Thanks in Advance xx

We got rooms ready between about 30-35 weeks as that was when most convenient. Cot has just gone up at 4 months but that's because his sister was in it until 2 weeks ago and he won't need it until September time. We did things like crib, bouncy chairs etc last to keep our bedroom and living room as clutter free as possible. Just do it when you feel like it.

Oh gosh don't wait till mat leave! I'm just about to go on mat leave at 37 weeks and I'm huge and exhausted! I can't reach the floor/my feet so bending down and building furniture would be impossible. I've been told I may be induced early so I am looking forward to having a week or 10 days of resting before baby is here. I'm very glad that everything is all sorted - baby clothes are all washed, folded and in drawers/wardrobe, room is sorted, furniture all built, hospital bags packed.

My DH is the same as yours and was dragging his heels but we had a scare at 30 weeks and had to go to hospital and he was SO RELIEVED that I'd packed and he didn't need to try to pack for me in a rush to get to the hospital. Thankfully it was a false alarm, but he is still glad we are now all ready, especially since we are expecting an early arrival, as I'm just so exhausted and he wants me to be able to rest now before labour starts.

Ahh thankyou for your replies!!
I took great pleasure in showing my husband your reply fatfingeredfran 🙈** it worked a dream and now he's considering putting the cot together whilst I organised baby's clothes!!
Thank you xx

Not at all. You're approaching your 3rd trimester but I'd still avoid painting (and especially the fumes) or anything like that just to be on the safe side.

Dw and I bought all of the big purchases in the January sales when dw was only about 6ish weeks pregnant lol. In the end Dd hated her moses basket and eventually we co-slept. The cotbed is still brand new in its box and now in the loft waiting for baby #2 Blush.

Haha! 😂 glad to be of use. Honestly mine was the same and was laughing at me for packing so early. He was not so smug when I phoned him saying I was on way to hospital can he come immediately, going via home to collect bags and notes!

I've also heard many horror stories of ladies that didn't intend on packing till later but baby arrived early, so hubby had to throw things in a bag and do the packing. Lots of horror stories of them packing pre-pregnancy skinny jeans, a thong, heels etc for the wife and 3-6 month clothes for the baby - stress can do funny things to decision making abilities!! Confused

I need to get my eyes seen to. Thought this said 'is 25 weeks too early to test' and my first reaction was 'dear god woman, POAS now!' Grin Confused

MrsMozart · 03/08/2017 09:16

Scribblegirl that made me giggle Grin

OP my two were babies a loooong time ago so I forget the exact timings, but I do remember we went for sooner rather than later.

owltrousers · 03/08/2017 09:25

Do it whenever you like!

There is a lot of stuff I was holding out doing until I realised - why am I waiting and teasing myself so much? I'm only 17 weeks but we've already started getting the cot / sleeping area and nursery ready.

strawberrysodasmiles · 03/08/2017 09:27

scribblegirl 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks all again for your replies - I think it's definitely time to start shaking a leg and organising!! 🙈😊

Think it's fair to say I've won this battle!! x

I timed it nicely... we were getting the nursery-to-be decorated, but had to finish the living room first. Figured I'd get all that done and then pack my hospital bag etc and leave it in the nursery, out of the way.

Got nursery decorated, I was 35 weeks. Next day - baby arrived. I'd got as far as finding a bag to use; hadn't packed anything.

DH ended up running round Tesco at 5am with a list containing things like "maternity pads", "breast pads", "nipple cream"... thankfully a lovely Tesco worker was just finishing her shift and stayed behind to help him identify the things!

Meanwhile MIL was dispatched to Next to collect the lampshade that had arrived a week ago and was going to be sent back if I didn't pick it up that day, and my mum put up the curtains in the nursery and headed to the shop to get some Tiny Baby babygros.

Honestly, being ready in advance would have been so much simpler!

I would advise you to make the most of the energy you have got while you've got it. I'm 30 weeks and really struggling to get motivated and I have no energy and just exhausted all the time with sooo much to do 😖 wish I had started earlier!

HorridHenryrule · 03/08/2017 13:03

Order what you need to come to you. I would advise going out to look for a pram I bought a shocking pram online once. If you are planning on buying a tomb like pram think carefully my son screamed every time I payed him in it to take him out. Some babies love the tomb but he hated it.

fatfingeredfran · 03/08/2017 13:04

What's a tomb peak?

HorridHenryrule · 03/08/2017 13:04

*Every time I put

HorridHenryrule · 03/08/2017 13:05

It's the carry cot that attaches to the pram he hated that much we nicknamed it the tomb.

fatfingeredfran · 03/08/2017 13:07

Lol peak = pram

Ah I see, thanks for explaining

ScarletSienna · 03/08/2017 13:08

I didn't! DC was born prematurely and it really was fine. We didn't have a hospital bag so just shoved a few bits in a bag on the way out the door. My mum picked a few bits up when I called her and then we got a cot and car seat to come home.

Having not been organised, I now wouldn't worry so much about being organised if I had another. The only thing we really needed was a car seat!
