First midwife appointment - what to expect?

So I've just found out I'm pregnant with our first child. I rang the doctors Monday and they got back to me today to say I will have an appointment with the midwife in 2 weeks time (at that point I will be around 6 weeks pregnant). They didn't say what would happen just that the midwife would go through paperwork. Can someone please let me know what to expect at this appointment, thank you x

I had my first midwife appointment, the booking appointment, today (I'm 9 weeks tomorrow). You have it before you're 10 weeks but it's usually between 8 and 12 weeks from what I've read so I'm not sure whether yours will be the same as what I just had.

Anyway, if it is what I just had, they go through the A4 green book you were sent in the post, checking what answers you put and also explaining all the tests you can have done and when your next appointments will be. You're also given phone numbers of who to call and for what.

You give a wee sample, they weigh you and they take blood.

I was then booked in for my 12 week scan but this process seems to differ depending on where you live and the NHS trust you come under.
