Do you think I will be offered induction?

I am 39+3 and went to hospital yesterday evening for monitoring as the baby had been completely still most of the day.

The ctg was fine and showed a "happy baby not in any distress".

I am back late today for a growth scan. They have also offered to do a sweep after the scan which I have accepted.

The midwife didn't want to say too much, but did say we would have to sit down and have a chat if the scan showed any problems or if baby is still not moving or moving far less than usual.

Would you think I would be offered an induction?

Just trying to get myself organised and prepared as I have other kids to get sorted etc and didn't expect things to move quite so fast all of a sudden after a completely normal pregnancy and all other pregnancies going way past due date Grin

We wouldn't induce in our hospital at this point for a first episode of decreased movements if scan fine.
Other hospitals might!
You must tell them if movements decrease again though.

Hi!

It's my third episode of reduced/lack of movement since 34 weeks.

I had hospital stays for severe hyperemisis, growth scans as they didn't think she was growing, multiple trips to day care because I couldn't feel her moving, so many infections and blood in my urine and they didn't induce me until +8 when I had preeclampsia and DD pooed in the waters and I noticed when they started leaking. (They seemed in no rush even then) as frustrating as it is they don't induce lightly!

I would really rather not be induced as it was no barrel of laughs last time, just curious about what this chat might entail if anything isn't quite right 🤔

She just said wait till after the scan and see how movements have been before discussing 'options'.

Will sort out bags etc in case but I'm not expecting anything major to happen...

I wouldn't expect it tbh. Good luck with everything though

I was induced after 3rd episode of reduced movement at 39+5

Wait4nothing · 02/08/2017 10:14

I was told I would have been offered induction at 3rd reduced movement monitoring- my waters had broken (they thought I was wrong initially but I wasn't) so was induced after 24 hours as labour didn't start. So guess it depends on the hospital.

Wait4nothing · 02/08/2017 10:15

Sorry that was at 40+3

Sounds like it depends on the hospital policy and patient history of absent movements.

My hospital seem to have stepped up monitoring since my last child, changes in movement patterns are definitely taken more seriously now than they were 4 years ago.

Suppose il just be prepared for whatever they suggest and if they do offer induction I will probably accept rather than put myself through the worry and rigmarole of back and forth for monitoring if movements stop again.
