I am 22 weeks preg now and every so often been having my blood pressure monitored.

Has been lowish-normal which is ok as have family history of pre-eclampsia - but today found out had a heart rate of 105. Second test of 95. It was in the morning and hadn't even done much moving around (back pain) and wasn't anxious/stressed.

But should I be anxious now?

Anyone else have this too? I am usually a very fit sporty person - until this preg caused me to have hyperm g, then severe debilitating sacro-iliac pain and now this!!

My heart must be working overtime big time.

Poor you! I haven't had a problem with this yet but I'd suggest you don't get too stressed about it or that'll just make your heart beat even faster. Not easy to do I know! D

id you measure it yourself or did the mw/doc? If it was the mw/doc then I'm sure they'd have told you if they were concerned. If not maybe make an appointment to discuss it with the mw to put your mind at ease?

Hope you feel better soon x

my usual resting pulse is about 110 anyway, and I'm 27. Problem with spot checking pulse is that you only have a number, and no comparison.

Unless you know that your pulse is normally a lot lower, I would forget it.

Being fit & sporty doesn't necessarily correspond with a low heart rate.

The 'average' pulse at rest is 60-80 beats per minute, but that is average. If it is normal for you to have a fast pulse then that's normal, same goes for slower pulse. Did midwife or doc take your pulse, if so, what did they say?

I consider myself to be very fit and pre pregnancy I was running 45 miles per week (though I have cut this down a bit now!)

My blood pressure readings over the past 4 years have been consistently on the high side. My midwife showed me my history at my last appointment and my HR is usually between 85 - 95 BPM. However, I would argue that these readings are not particularly accurate as I'm usually in a rush to make Drs appointments and a bit stressed when I get there.

I regularly take my HR before getting out of bed on a morning as part of my training, and this gives a much more accurate resting HR. It is usually around 55 - 63 before getting up. Any higher and I know I'm getting a cold or over training.

Try taking your HR before you get up and you will probably find that it is much lower than 105.
