Any ideas for a nice paint colour that would suit a small room for a nursery?

It would have to work for a girl or boy...

I'm going with light grey but you could do pastel yellow/green? Or go with white and buy decals to decorate with?

needsomesunshineandwine · 28/07/2017 08:01

I've just redecorated ours, we went for yellow, turquoise and grey. Still few things to get to finish it off 🙂

I always think a pale mint green looks lovely

Do you know Houzz? It's great for inspiration.

Oh god we went through this
Spend about a hundred pounds on tester pots
I remember being sat in the nursery sobbing because we couldn't find the right colour
But in the end we chose Egyptian cotton (which was one of the first tester pots we bought)
And it is absolutely stunning
It's not grey but not beige
It's just so lovely, I had a boy so got all pale blue peter rabbit things and bedding when he was born and it goes so well
As would pale pink etc
We love it so much we are painting our new house in Egyptian cotton all over! So nice

MarvinKMooney · 28/07/2017 08:10

We have Egyptian Cotton too!

dowhatyouwish · 28/07/2017 08:13

Yellow and grey would be nice

steppemum · 28/07/2017 08:13
  1. creamy with calico/beige type linen colours
  2. green and cream
  3. yellow and sunshine effect, soft and warm
  4. animal theme, jungle print, soft green walls
  5. bird in a tree decal on one wall, cream/green/pale blue behind

Ours was yellow, with a fabric that was blue with yellow stars. (going back a good few years though!)

blueskyinmarch · 28/07/2017 08:15

When we had our first child (a DD but we didn't know before she was born) we did the room a pale mint green colour with an animal border. It was very lovely and calming.

troodiedoo · 28/07/2017 08:16

Grey seems to be the standard nursery colour at the moment. Gonna be a lot of kids demanding garish colours in a few years Grin

CatRash · 28/07/2017 09:03

Egyptian Cotton here too lol! Lovely and neutral so able to add colour now my LO is here without it clashing.

EdgarAllenPoe · 28/07/2017 09:29

Ours is primrose yellow walls, a pale green carpet, and red/orange curtains, lampshade, etc. Sounds a bit garish but looks quite nice. Main thing is to get an easy to clean floor - we have bleachable, short pile carpet. It gets filthy with milk droplets and all sorts you don't notice until the next day when it's dried in!

Lemondrop99 · 28/07/2017 09:37

I think pale grey, mint and white looks lovely

Ours is a dark beige by Dulux called Bleached Lichen. We have a silhouette mural on the wall in various shades of the colour.

needsomesunshineandwine · 28/07/2017 09:57

Grey and yellow is lovely, my daughters room is that colour. So fresh and would definitely suit boy and girl. Google and Pinterest should give you some great ideas.

Dede124 · 28/07/2017 10:05

We've gone for grey walls, white furniture and baby pink things

squishysquirmy · 28/07/2017 10:08

I painted dd's room a pale blue colour, (Valspar blueberry ice) then used a sponge to paint clouds all over it. Easier than it sounds, and really pretty.
I then added a tree wall sticker, but could have used other stickers - hot air balloons, birds, planes etc.

Gothbaby · 28/07/2017 11:53

i guess are you going for a theme? I think two colours is always nice to go with (border and wall colour etc.) such as green and yellow, or purple and white etc. :) x

cherryontopp · 28/07/2017 12:03

I'm going for a beige/mocha colour, it'll suit a boy or girl.

Oysterbabe · 28/07/2017 12:24

We like bright colours so one wall bright red and hot air balloon stickers on another. It looks lovely.

starsinyourpies · 28/07/2017 12:26

We did Fawn from Little Greene, really warm colour and very cosy.

Nowthereistwo · 28/07/2017 12:26

We went for a granny smith apple green for the main wall and a greenish cream for the others. The green matched the apple tree in the curtains. Nice to have a bit of colour

Emma2803 · 28/07/2017 12:30

Room for dc was bright yellow, with curtains with an orange heading and blue red and green spots, and little animal canvas, turned out a boy and going to change curtains to a tractor design so will still go with yellow walls.
Dc2 due after Christmas and would like to do the room mint green and have seen some lovely white, grey and mint green curtain/bedding sets in dunelm and asda.

Creatureofthenight · 28/07/2017 12:39

There's lots of ideas on Pinterest, search for neutral nursery.
Grey and a bright accent colour like turquoise or yellow seems to be the popular option.
I've done ours in Willow Green from Dulux - I knew I wanted green but found it really difficult to find the right shade.

Bear2014 · 28/07/2017 14:47

We went for this light teal colour - it's Dulux Lagoon Falls

Pastel, sage green can look really lovely but I also like colours like soft grey and yellow together.
