Anxiety before 12 week scan

So my 12 week scan is on Monday when I should be 12+2, I've had a early scan and saw a healthy heart beat at 7+5 but my anxiety has kicked in AGAIN.
Did you get anxiety before your 12 week scan? This weekend is going to go very slowly for me Blush

I have major anxiety before every scan!! We had our 20-wk scan this afternoon and I haven't slept all week. (Everything was perfect).
Just remember most pregnancies are absolutely straightforward and problem free. I think everyone worries though x

Oh yes I have major anxiety especially with it being an IVF pregnancy - I just can never relax.

If something happens, it will happen regardless of whether you worry so just try and enjoy your pregnancy the best you can Smile

Oh yes definitely anxious before both 12 and 20 week scans. I think it's pretty normal. I'd had an early mc and my sis in low lost baby at 22 weeks so that definitely played on my mind. I'm now 24 weeks.

Good luck, and don't forget to update us.

Yes and I felt the same before every scan. Horrible feeling. Try and stay off Google if you can, I kept looking at negative stuff and it did not help with the anxiety. Easier said than done, I know, but enjoy your pregnancy.

I have major anxiety too, everything was ok last week at dating scan (13+5) but still booking a private scan at 17 weeks as I'll go nuts waiting for the 20 weeks scan otherwise!

Wishing you a healthy happy pregnancy OP Smile

Definitely! I have had a previous early MC and had bleeding with current pregnancy and so had early NHS scans and saw heartbeat at early stage. Then ended up getting private scan week before my 12 week scan as was so terrified was all going to be over. Was also scared before 20 week - again all fine. Actually am scared all the time! Scans are great but they also ramp up the nervousness in advance of them. I have a new found appreciation of all women I have known who've gone through TTC and pregnancy and all the ways it can be stressful and upsetting I just never thought about it and thought it was a happy exciting time!

I'm not normally an anxious person, but I've been incredibly anxious before my 7 week scan (fertility clinic), 12 week and 20 weeks! And now I'm nearly 23 weeks and anxious about the fact I don't get any more scans from now. Pregnancy has been a big ball of worry for me so far.

maplebaby · 27/07/2017 21:17

I actually googled this earlier today OP, I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday and even though I've had good scans at 6, 8 and 10 weeks I still have massive scanxiety. I had IVF which has also put me even more on edge about it all. Looks like everyone feels the same so lots of hand holding until Monday!

Thissameearth · 27/07/2017 23:07

Accrual I feel you. I thought I'd feel better after 12 weeks, then 20 weeks, then after 24 weeks (viability), then after 28 weeks (don't really know why)...

Are you feeling your baby move though - the upside of being beyond your scans is that you're at movement point so hopefully getting reassurance that way?

AccrualIntentions · 27/07/2017 23:30

Thissameearth I have an anterior placenta (and also a bit overweight) so I can feel sort of fluttering and popping type movements sometimes, but not definitive kicks or anything like that yet. That's been a whole other source of stress! But if it wasn't that I'm sure it would be something else, I think I'm destined to be a stresshead throughout this pregnancy.

Thissameearth · 28/07/2017 06:19

I think that's right re finding stress everywhere. Once you feel movement you start to worry when they're not moving and trying to find a pattern and see if out of pattern, so it's double edged sword. Oh well, what can be done, fingers crossed all is well (and we have some semblance of sanity).

AnxietyForever · 28/07/2017 08:32

I'm pregnant with a clomid baby Smile! Had 2 previous MC and then early bleeding with this one. I'm not usually an anxious person either but with the scan fast approaching I cannot help but think somethings gone wrong. I'm going to try and enjoy the weekend and keep myself busy.
Will keep you all updated

Oh Gosh...you are not alone in feeling that way!! My 12 week scan is also on Monday! I Have a disabled daughter and had a mmc this time last year... so I'm not used to being given good news at scans unfortunately. Have felt ok so far, but my symptoms are very mild indeed so I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Trying to be prepared for every outcome really!! So stressful Sad

Dolly1991 · 28/07/2017 22:19

I had my 12 week scan today (11+3) this is baby number 4 and i have no idea why I'm so scared this time as with my others i was ok about scans. I booked a early scan at 7 weeks and another at 9 weeks. I think its ok to feel anxious. I hope everything goes well

f1sher · 29/07/2017 07:12

I'm 10+4 and my scan is in about10 days time. I had a bad dream in the night that the scan didn't go well and have woken up full of anxiety this morning :(
This is my first pregnancy so I've been trying to keep level headed and not get my hopes up too much as I know things don't always work out... but this last six weeks have gone so slowly I'm just a bit desperate to see that baby is ok.
Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. Sending good wishes to you all xx

happydays00 · 29/07/2017 07:21

I think it's completely normal! Try and keep yourself busy and stay off goggle!
