1st world problem, I know.
I can't stop thinking about Brussels Pâté.
On crusty white bread.
This has been going on for months but this week (I'm 26 weeks) it's all I want and I just don't want to eat anything else.

It's ridiculous, but it is driving me crazy and making me miserable because whatever I eat just seems so disappointing.
I had terrible sickness throughout a lot of this pregnancy so food has been an issue I suppose.
The only other thing I seem to crave is maltesers, but they make me vomit.

I eat sushi, rare steaks, tuna, runny eggs, cured meats, fresh mozerella (supermarket stuff, not deli), smoked salmon, god, most stuff.

I eat very very minimal pate, avoid furry soft cheese unless cooked and hardly any alcohol.

All this 'not eating stuff' is seriously overkill in my opinion but that's my opinion for my pregnancy and my risk to take.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 27/07/2017 19:50

I ruined pate day!
I ate a cinnamon roll before lunch, apparently the baby didn't approve. I felt too sick to enjoy my pate, had a little.
Then literally as DH walked through the door from work and came upstairs I started throwing up like a fountain. Went on for maybe 10 min in rather dramatic can't breathe, tears streaming down my face, this baby hates me fashion.
Have ordered Chinese as a peace offering to the bump.
That's cinnamon added to the list of things I'm not eating anymore.
I hope you're all fairing better.

Oh no!!
Clean slate tomorrow, enjoy pate then instead.
I'm like that with ginger or the smell of grease, end up with a list 😂

You can have runny eggs as long as they're British Lion Stamped eggs as the chickens would have been vaccinated against salmonella.

I craved red wine, used to sniff glasses of it Blush and just long for it. I had a glass a week after my DD was born, and it was amazing Grin

Pickleshickles · 28/07/2017 05:24

Red Bull. I couldn't care less about it normally but I crave it terribly. Can't even have it post natal as breastfeeding.

I don't worry about pate/sushi though. And if I hadn't gone off tea and coffee by week 8 I'd not worry about caffeine either.

SpringtoSummer · 28/07/2017 07:13

I've been having tea/coffee within the recommended amounts, runny stamped eggs and discovered alcohol free beer so I haven't missed much at all. But yesterday I was at the cheese stall at the market and suddenly wanted all of it!

KitKatSplat · 30/07/2017 10:31

Sushi. I reeaaaallly miss sushi. I live in Sweden and the customer service doesn't really lend itself to asking if the sushi is frozen beforehand, so I've just avoided it. I've flown via Heathrow a couple of times though and they have an Itsu or something like that where they pre-freeze it, allowing me to have to blissful tuna and salmon sashimi binges. YUM!

I do eat runny eggs when my husband isn't watching (no idea what the red lion stamp equivalent is here, so screw it) and have had the occasional medium rare burger. I have hot smoked salmon but not cold smoked, and avoid honey (bought some amazing stuff off a farmer's market but can't tell if it's pasteurised :( )

Thattwatoverthere · 30/07/2017 15:12

Wine. I'm craving it so badly (and a pack of cigarettes). Every time I pass my local on a nice day and see people sitting outside with a drink and a fag I could cry. Weird thing is I quit smoking ages ago.

But the wine though....

Jessiecat27 · 30/07/2017 15:20

Oh the things I would do for an energy drink! Nothing else has bothered me but when I see someone else drinking one it makes me want to cry! Also hoping to breastfeed so it may be some time before I have one! Sad

MySecretToTell · 30/07/2017 18:07

Just like my first pregnancy I'm craving anything alcoholic Blush The funny thing is I'm not a big drinker at all, for years friends we're continually asking me if I were pregnant because at a party I'd happily have a soft drink over alcohol. I breastfed my first and after birth the craving went and I happily avoided the alcohol for two years of feeding a very 'little and often' baby/toddler, I didn't miss it at all until I became pregnant again Confused

Purpleball · 30/07/2017 18:09

MW told me rare steak is fine as long as it's sealed all over.
Lion stamped eggs are also fine runny.
Pate is a no no as far as I'm aware, also Brie and Stilton type cheeses

Owl1011 · 30/07/2017 19:01

Every time I watch something on TV lately they're drinking red wine and it's all I've been able to think about for days! Didn't even drink that much of it before but I guess when you get told you can't have something...!

calimommy · 31/07/2017 04:43

Pink champagne

KimchiLaLa · 31/07/2017 06:10

I'm DESPERATE for a glass of prosecco and an Aperol. Anyone I tell says they drank occasionally but I know the one time i do it it won't work out well.

The other day I was on a plane, got the cheese plate and when it arrived thought, oh I better not eat the Brie. 20 mins later I realised I'd absent mindedly eaten a bite of the Brie. I was fine.

scrivette · 31/07/2017 21:01

I have been craving beer too, in my last pregnancy it was also the only thing I wanted to drink. Strangely I very very drink alcohol when I am not pregnant, I am pleased to have discovered Beck's Blue this pregnancy.

Elspeth24 · 31/07/2017 21:36

ICE COLD GLASS OF CHAMPAGNE

(Although probably not a legit craving, I just miss it and I'm only 5+5!)

Anban · 01/08/2017 08:48

In terms of the rare meats and runny eggs, as long as your hygiene is good you should have no problem. British farm animals are tested stringently for bacrerias, there are very strict rules for things like washing eggs, vacancies and not mixing areas of 'food' and 'animals'. If you are eating out and they have a level 5 hygiene then they are going to be making sure that your rare steak isn't near any raw chicken.

Of course it is human nature to make mistakes and they might slip up but that is true whether you are pregnant or not.

I am vegetarian so the meat stuff isn't an issue for me anyway... Until the baby starts craving a burger that is.

redfragglebiker · 01/08/2017 08:59

@oddsocks I think I may also have to indulge in the pate craving. 23+5 here and I'm dreaming of it served on warm crusty bread with pickles. Cheese on toast with Hendos just isn't cutting it anymore!

Oddsocksforeveryone · 01/08/2017 14:35

@redfragglebiker Fraggle is what I call the baby lol. I've told DH if we haven't chosen a name for him by the time he's born he's gonna be named Sprocket lol.
Well the sickness on pate day has killed the craving so I don't need to worry about it any more. On to the next one!

Those craving booze, have you tried peartizer? The pear version of appletizer. That always tastes alcoholic to me.

@oddsocks - Sprocket! My old dog was called sprocket and hardly anyone got the reference!
